Heyhey, I got to paint a bunch of Napoleonics again! For Spain! These here are the 15th (The King's) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Hussars):

The gentleman whom I painted these for is quite keen on the combination of Foundry figures with Perrys plastic horses. Which is a pretty darned cool idea, because they really fit together perfectly. Funny side note - I was dead sure I never painted the 15th Light Dragoons before; only when I saved the photos I realized I painted these guys a few years ago in 15mm for Waterloo!
Another side note: This regiment - then under the name of 1st King's Royal Light Dragoons - suppressed the Nottingham Cheese Riot in 1766. Wikipedia notes:
"A riot broke out on 2 October 1766 after several Lincolnshire merchants purchased a large quantity of cheese with the intention of selling it in their county.[nb 1][9][2] They were subsequently surrounded by a group of "rude lads" who demanded the merchants not take away the cheese and instead share it out in Nottingham.[2][3] Violence eventually broke out over the dispute and rioters proceeded to loot a large quantity of cheese throughout Nottingham; shop windows were broken and hundreds of cheese wheels were thrown and rolled down the streets, including in Wheeler Gate and Peck Lane.[9][5][10] The mayor of Nottingham, Robie Swann, attempted to disrupt the riot and restore order, but was knocked over by a rolling cheese wheel.[5][11]"
Well, I hope you like the figures!

Awesome work. And don't listen to anyone who says things like 'they didn't carry standards blah blah blah'. They look better with standards and you have done such a great job on them.
-
Fantastic. I've always like the look of the British cavalry. You've done them well!
-
Very nicely done!!!

Knocked over by a rolling cheese wheel! What a vision!

@Brian Smaller: Yeah, no, wargames figures are best in their parade dress and with full flags. If I want unimpressive troops, I'll turn to my WW2 or ACW stuff. ;)
@aphillathehun: Cheers! Yeah, I paint less British cavalry than French (or Austrian, come to think of it), but they do look nice and had good horses.
@Terry37: Thank you!
@vtsaogames: Yeah, one to keep in mind for the Random Events Table. :D

crikey, they're splendid.

Impressive! :-*

Brilliant brushwork! I zoomed in to get a better look and they are magnificent! Bravo!

Impressive

Fantastic work! And the idea of a mayor being barrelled over by a cheese wheel has certainly brightened my day :D

@Bloggard: thanks very much!
@traveller: Cheers!
@Malegriffin: Thank you! Yeah, that's the tricky stuff, isn't it. I try to make figures look nice on the table as well as close-up. That's the goal. Getting these two things done at the same time can be tricky at times (and with many painted figures I see on the internet I tend to wonder if they looked any good on a gaming table). Luckily with Napleonics it's less of an issue because they got proper nice uniforms. :D
@LouieN: cheers!
@Basementboy: It is an interesting random event for urban scenarios. ;)
Here's photos of this lovely unit with a background and whatnot.
