This is the most Oldhammer video I have ever made - a reenactment of a 1984 First Edition Warhammer Fantasy Battle game, using only the stuff I had back then.
Since an old 2012 forum post, I have re-done umpteen pictures and added loads more pictures and stuff to the expanded background section. If you don't know, but you want to know, what it was like playing in 1984, just after the first ever 'Forces of Fantasy' came out - or at least, what it was like in my particular part of the world - then please take a look.
This is part one of two ...

Epic goodness!

Superb.
I was going to write I don't recognize the unit-builder figure... I still don't, but I looked more closely and I still own the leader right of the picture! :)
(I painted him brick red, I was not playing WH)

When I read „re-enactment“ I was fearing blokes with rubber weapons and green paint on their faces! lol
It looks amazing!

Watched this last night. So much fun! Your sense of humor really comes through and I'm very impressed with your memory and notes from back then- thanks for sharing!

Outstanding. Enjoyed with my first coffee of the day as usual.

Asking the important questions: WIll the Red Chicken Boys will ever get a comeback? ;D
Really nice video with background notes, enjoyed it!
-
@ Mikai - not sure the red chicken boys will ever get that comeback, as all the greenskins have been ousted [for now] from Tilea, and the figures just don't 'fit in' with the current campaign's style!
@ Mr Tap, Frugalmax and Divismal, Patrice and HerbertTarkel .... Thanks muchly. Appreciated.

Special Video 10 is the second episode of the pair. 'The battle!'
This is our 2012 reenactment of a 1984 Warhammer Fantasy 1st edition game, using only the figures and scenery I myself had in 1984. Enamel paint jobs throughout and loads of Prince August self-moulded figures and historicals to bulk out the numbers. It's how I did it in the early 80s. And once again in 2012.

These goblins fighting themselves got me lol
I have never played Warhammer. Is that something which can still happen in the newer rule editions?

It is called animosity. In the various editions it worked differently. Failure can mean squabbling amongst themselves, shooting at allies, failing to move or attacking another 'friendly' unit. Except obviously they don't think of them as friends anymore. Sometimes failure means a different kind of lack of control is applied, and the green skins head off towards the enemy in an extra move. Like I said, each edition of the rules had its own table of options and consequences. I am not sure, but I think in eighth edition they don't actually enter combat with each other. I have no idea how it works in the current 'old world' edition of the rules.

Animosity amongst goblins and orcs has its origin in all the infighting that went on in Tolkien's stories. They seem to be always arguing amongst themselves.

Animosity was definitely a rule for orcs and goblins in WFB 3rd edition when I got into miniatures gaming. It could be a difficult army to play because orcs and goblins had mediocre leadership stats and had a fair chance of losing their shit with each other. Those armies needed some non-animosity units like half-orcs in between to keep order (half orcs were lame in most other regards), or a lot of points spent on leaders with higher command stats. Otherwise it was a matter of deploying as close to the enemy as possible and getting into combat (hopefully) before your army imploded! At least that’s my recollection.
