Six Devastators have been finished last week:

And their Razorback transport has been finished today:

I am in the process of painting ten vintage veterans and three characters: Cpt., Techmarine and Standard Bearer.
https://ibb.co/album/ChHHFj
A few weeks ago this Kill-Team has been finished:
https://ibb.co/album/dt3bWV
And here is the fluff for the team:
THE EXCELLENT SEVEN
Traitors, xenos and witches galore,
infest the Milky Way up to Terra´s shore,
though men of the Imperium don´t despair,
the Iron Tenth send the Excellent Seven into guerre.
Gryvuus Rauth, stout and pure of heart,
sweeps his heavy bolter to cut enemies apart,
a big fellow, that´s for sure,
there will be no sanctuary for the impure.
Agri-World settlers live in despair,
void pirates routinely steal their share,
the Magnificent Seven are aware of your plight,
an opportunity to demonstrate their impressive might.
Vardon Shurrgar, an artist with the bolt sniper,
dispenses death faster than a striking viper,
his stealth surpassed by none,
killing from a distance is his way of fun.
Excellent Seven comin´ to your city,
they are Astartes, they have no pity,
heathens, scum and philistines beware,
your funeral pyre will have quite the flare.
Tarrvim Korrphal, a grizzled vet,
fighting him is akin to playing Russian Roulette,
with scoped rifle and bionic arm,
prevents his brothers coming to harm.
40K years of our time,
wherever you look, just villainy and crime,
one thing will happen evildoer, without a doubt,
Excellent Seven will sort you out.
Lorrvus Glorh, a resolute Sgt. and brother marine,
focus turning him into a killing machine,
a wrist-mounted auspex from which you can´t hide,
enemy survival just has been denied.
Planetary governors do as they please,
never realizing they are a part of the disease,
riling up the populace with heretical jargon,
Excellent´s Seven verdict: No pardon.
Droak Pystokh, a seasoned warhorse,
deletes the Imperium´s foes without remorse,
the Codex Astartes recommends the smokescreen,
he emerges from it with vengeance like a submarine.
Bugs of outer space, an intergalactic pest,
for the Excellent Seven this won´t be a test,
waging war with bolter, blade and fury,
xenos death screams will even reach Missouri.
Shoschuus Kruyvaan, a rising star,
turns the battlefield into an abattoir,
chainsword in hand, the noise is a roar,
the only outcome, a bloody mess on the floor.
Excellent Seven are beloved by all Imperial citizenry,
they won´t abide any kind of debauchery,
cultists of hedonism, proponents of vile action,
your purge an example of natural selection.
Orros Laspykh, Captain & Tactician,
contempt for hostiles is his only disposition,
armed with master-crafted plasma pistol & power fist,
a single shot from the former turns targets into mist.
So scheme and plot all you want, enemy of the Golden Throne,
when the Excellent Seven show up, you will be outshone,
the sons of Ferrus always display an iron will,
and you will be the one to pay the butcher´s bill.

I'm sorry to see so many views on this thread, and yet no comments. :?
Would embedding some images into the posts be helpful in getting some feedback I wonder?

For myself, I like the fairly bright red earth basing style you used, and how it contrasts with the dark colours of your IH. :)

@Major_Gilbear:
Thanks for the praise!
The idea for a Mars theme came to me back in 2022 when I watched a home DVD about our star system. Then on Youtube I discovered the 30k Channel (now dead) which presented armies with lots of weathering. This was an eye-opener for me who exclusively used sand for bases, no weathering and almost zero decals. So after starting work on the 30K stuff I also reworked my entire vintage 40K army.
The new base consists of Red Oxide Paste from Vallejo (now out of production). I had to order a new batch from Green World Stuff just a couple of weeks ago.
-
Yeah this thread deserves more comments.
I don’t weather my marines personally but the “red sands” thing is pretty damn cool.
Also an impressive force.
the pics on the thread helps lol
-
I have a feeling that the lack of comments is entirely due to having to click on a link to see what may or may not be a picture of Space Marines. I know that I have passed over this thread before rather than use the links - sorry ID but that's just the way it is.
The pictures that Major Gilbear kindly took from your link and put up are very nice though - I like the use of red dust against the iron armour, very dramatic!
-
Army looks dope!
-
Thanks for the praise!
I usually use links to not bloat the thread with pics. People on phones will have otherwise long loading times when they scroll around. This way it is not a chore for anybody.
Update:
The two 30K_IH apothecaries and the praevian have been completed today:
https://ibb.co/album/bQwmDy
-
Update:
Slacking is not in the vocabulary of the Iron Tenth. Therefore these models are currently on the painting table:
-3 Rhinos (includes a single command rhino).
- Praetor, moritat and librarian.
Pics:

-
Update:
The three rhinos have been primed. The librarian as well as the moritat have been assembled:

Keep posting. This army is killer. I need to paint up my thousand sons and I might go grimy like this on the candy paint.
-
I'm sorry to see so many views on this thread, and yet no comments. :?
The last two times I came to view this thread the ibb site was unresponsive.
Great looking minis. They have all seen some hard wear :-) Its always odd to see models that are "showroom fresh" on the table.
Is the weathering on the troops meant to be mud or rust?
-
I think you should post the pictures here, sir- you have some lovely stuff and nobody is going to complain about load times I assure you.
That hosting site hasn't been working for me recently but possibly only momentary.
I want to weather my future Marine project, and your lovely stuff is helping push me in that direction!
-
Really nice work, lovely coherent force. The release of 3rd edition has reinvigorated my interest in my own project. The lovely looking bases will hopefully help me push on with my own stuff
-
Thanks for the praise guys!
@pixelgeek:
Weathering:
The bases are supposed to be Martian soil and the tank tracks are covered therefore in dried patches of dirt.
Here is the recipe:
1. Green Stuff World (Martian Soil)
2. Umber Wash (Vallejo)
3. Bright Orange (drybrush)
The orange particles are a mixture of weathering powder (Vallejo) which is supposed to represent dust. Here is the recipe:
1. Brown Iron Oxide
2. Dark Red Oxide
3. Dark Yellow Ochre
4. Rust
5. Natural Iron Oxide
Mixture volume is: 1:1:1:1:0.5 (Result should be a dark orange dust)
Update:
The 30K_IH Moritat & Librarian have been completed:
Librarian:
https://ibb.co/album/TryCCc
Moritat:
https://ibb.co/album/v3JJ2n
I have started this project in 2022 so if there is interest to show unit albums from models presented in my glass cabinet which have been finished a long while ago then just inform me. Here is the Spartan album:
Spartan:
https://ibb.co/album/XkgD4z
@steders:
Choose a theme and run with it. And yes, the bases give the models personality. Since I have discovered texture paints in 2022 they are applied on nearly all of my newer models.
@ragsta:
Nice to hear my models let you consider doing some weathering too. There are a ton of different techniques out there for you to try.
@mmmgoodwin:
Choose a weathering which will stand out on your red TS and it will improve the look of your models.

Update:
30K_IH_Praetor:

Group pic of all three characters:
https://ibb.co/album/V3PKD8
Now I have to build the three rhinos. Not an enviable task but it needs to be done.

Update:
30K_IH_Rhino_#3 has been finished:

Work on 30K_IH_Rhino_#2 has begun:
https://ibb.co/album/bbWdVh
Army pic as of now:

Space has reached it´s limit now on that shelf. I guess my ancient Catachans need to be stored away in boxes to make way for the new stuff.
-
Update:
Today was the last day of the painting challenge. All vowed models were finished although I didn´t have time to do the weathering on two rhinos to a degree which I normally do. The models were still legal contenders as the bar is only tabletop standard.
Here is the pic:
