Good luck in making a decision. :o
-
o_o
finally decided which two to vote for but it took some work.
-
Congrats to all who made the final all good entries, but its the Gunboat and K-Wagon that gets my votes :) Aircav, I'd get Overlord to change your name on the voting list, AIRCAC definately doesnt have the same ring are Aircav ;)
-
Congratulations to all finalists but after much thought its the Colony Ship and K-Wagon for me.
Colony ship for being an ingenius assembly of assorted household detrius with an outstanding paint job and the K-wagon for its exacting recreation in plasticard with an outstanding paint job.
:)
-
Aircav, I'd get Overlord to change your name on the voting list, AIRCAC definately doesnt have the same ring are Aircav ;)
MY apologies to Aircav for my mistake. I'm loath to edit it in case it resets the poll.
-
A great selection of finalists, good luck to all.
I've enjoyed the competition and although I didn't get through to the final, I was not surprised as the quality was breathtaking.
Once again very well done.

Let me just say what an honor it is to have my entry spanked by quality such as I see here.
Yowza.
-
A great selection of finalists, My first choice was easy I knew I was going to be voting for the Admirals gunboat in the final, before the first round ,casting the second was a lot harder!I've really enjoyed this contest and look forward to participating next year. Thanks again to Overlord for organizing it!
-
Well, all I can say is congratulations to all who got this far! I'm stunned at the level of work, and had the hardest time possible choosing my two.
-
All excellent work, congratulations to all the finalists
-
Outstanding efforts guys. I am humbled to be in this company. Well done to all who entered.

Congratulations to everyone.
Some truly wonderful work and a credit to the LAF

Excellent work, guys!
After considerable deliberation I´ve finally cast my votes. Very hard to choose among such excellent marvels.

-
Great competition. Thanks again Overlord
Good luck to all the finalists :D
-
Wow, I'm blown away with the quality of the entries!! I needed at least 4 votes instead of 2!! Still I had to make a decision in the end.
Well done to all you talented people.
-
And it is often hard for the Sterling Moose to make up his mind ;)
-
Wow - what a tough decision. There isn't one entry that isn't outstanding. My hats off to all who participated and made it to the finals. Good - luck to all of you. (no I'm not telling who I voted for - thats just undemocratic lol )
-
Superb final, not to mention the great entries that did not make it this far. Cheers to all for a fantastic contest.
-
Fabulous. Well done lads. What an astonishing display of craftsmanship and art.
Seems harsh that some entries have only got a handful of votes - surely not a reflection on the standard of these entries, all of which are top-quality: just the voting mechanism, and the sheer brilliance of the frontrunners.
I sincerely hope to have a game on that gunboat one fine day, AdmiralB ;)
-
Now this is real eye-candy! o_o o_o o_o
Well done folks and good luck to all the finalists. :D
-
Yeah. That was tough.
But I think I have it, voted for two, cannot help but honorable mention the steamship and chitty-chitty bang bang though. Beautiful. Hard to choose.
Congrats to all of you, you all created beautiful models, and it was tough to choose.
Don.
-
It's a tough one this, Admiral Benbow & Zafarelli, it was a difficult choice Company B came a very clopse 3rd :D :D
MY apologies to Aircav for my mistake. I'm loath to edit it in case it resets the poll.
Thats ok you've done a fantastic job of organising the comp :D
Thanks to everyone getting me this far :D I'm pleased with how the K-Wagen turned out as its the 1st major scratch build that i've ever done, ive converted a lot of things before though but nothing like this.
Keith :?
-
Geesh, and I thought voting in the earlier rounds was tough.....I'd be happy to do something half as good as any of these listed as finalists.
All of you have some pretty neat models!
-
Top notch work, guys. Inspiring!
-
Less than 24 hours until the voting ends. If you haven't done so already cast your votes now. :)
-
Well the first 'Build Something' contest is over. I would like to thank all those that took part either entering, partially building or voting on the entries. In the end we had 22 submissions covering a wide range of subject matter, from boats to armoured vehicles to buildings to whole tables. A considerable amout of effort has gone in to this contest from all concerned.
The WIP threads have made great reading. I have picked up a variety of tips, tricks and ideas that will undoubtedly make there way into my own future projects. I hope that those that were unable to finish their entries in time for the contest will go on to complete their projects for all of us to see.
The winner of the 'Transportation' contest is Admiral Benbow with his wonderful 'Gunboat Abu Klea'. Congratulations for a beautifully built and painted model, complimented by great photography and an interesting WIP thread.
In second place we have Aircav's K-wagen. Another fantastic scratch-build and a WIP thread that was "rivetting" reading!
In third was Zafarelli's Dragonfly Light Attack VTOL. A cracking model that looks like it will be commercially available at some point. Everyone is a winner here as we can all get our own copy. An interesting WIP thread with lots of imput from LAF members along the way.
At the start of the contest Ramshackle Curtis kindly offeres a prize of a £10 credit for the contest. In true LAF style it goes to a random entrant; Wayswatcher
I would like to also thank The Prof for helping get the contest up and running and Hammers for his assistance as co-moderator.
Its likely that this will be just the first Build Something contest with further contests on an irregular basis, similar to the LPL.
Paul.
-
Congrats to everyone who participated. Some absolutely fantastic entries, and I'm thrilled to see that some will be produced commercially. Well done all!
-
Congratulations to all the participants!
Admiral Benbow once again proves why he is "The Queen's Own Gizmologist", though I must say he had some awesome competition.
A special thanks goes to the folks organizing the contest, which was superb. Very interesting to see the works in progress and then the final painted models.
Well done to all!
-
Indeed, well done to all! :)
-
congrats to all the finalists, the 1st place goes to a very worthy winner. thanks to overlord for organising it was a great competition :)
-
First I like to thank Paul, Hammers and Alex for offering this great opportunity to build "something". This was the perfect excuse to start (and finish ...!) a long planned project.
Congrats to all participants, there were many fine models and building threads to admire and lots of nice techniques and modelling tricks to learn.
And of course thanks to all the voters, I really hope the one or other will be another participant in the next building competition.
Last, but not at all least: it was fun, and proved once again that we all need to get something new to drool over every Monday morning!
:)
-
Well done admiral, a well deserved win.
-
Congratulations Admiral!!Well Done!!
and a heartfelt "Thank You" to the organizers!
-
Folks, I had very little to do with it. The cred should go to Overlord.
-
Well done all , nice to know I backed the winners. :)
-
Its likely that this will be just the first Build Something contest with further contests on an irregular basis, similar to the LPL.
I look forward to the many more occasions where I can fail to finish an entry by the deadline :D
-
Congratulations Admiral - a well deserved win for a stunning construction and beautiful paintjob. Impossible to fault it in any way.
:)
-
Congrats to Admiral, for a superlative winner. Well done also to all the other entrants, it was great fun following the threads. And cheers to Paul for organising the whole thing. Result!
-
Well done to Admiral Benbow a worthy winner.

-
Great competition with a worthy winner, well done Admiral :)
-
Great contest all around - it was almost as much fun building something as it was watching the progress of the other projects.
I hope to see one or two of these entries in real life - Admiral Benbow, will your ship be at Tactica? I need to have a closer look at the engine :)
Overlord, thanks again for organizing this!
-
I thoroughly enjoyed the contest. Great work, Admiral.
-
Congratulations, Admiral and Aircav. Well-deserved placings for excellent pieces.
-
I hope to see one or two of these entries in real life - Admiral Benbow, will your ship be at Tactica? I need to have a closer look at the engine :)
Well, it won't fit too well into our Thirty Years War scenario :D, but I will bring it along for you.
:)
-
A big hearty congratulations to you, Benbow. A very worthy winner.
-
Congrats to the winners - those are some excellent builds
