We had a hoot of a game Saturday, our first outing with The Devil to Pay ACW rules. The report is here https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2025/06/cutler-vs-davis-at-gettysburg-day-1.html (https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2025/06/cutler-vs-davis-at-gettysburg-day-1.html)

Been reading about the siege of Petersburg, which had a bit of open-field fights during the various Union offensives against the supply rail lines leading into the city from the southwest. To replicate the jaded Union (and some Confederate) veterans bled white, treat them as green troops in charges and for rallying, but veterans when firing. They seemed quite capable of laying down lethal fire.

Good report. Great scenario with which to take the rules for a test run...

Very nice! I've got a bunch of Union dismounted cavalry painted up just waiting to be put to use.
