Title: Liberation of Pavis - Glorantha in 6mm
Post by: TWD on July 29, 2025, 09:10:45 PM
James, Martin and I staged a Glorantha game atthe recent Joy of Six show, using a mixture of figures but heavily featuring the Rapier line that until quite recently was official Glorantha miniatures, along with some Baccus and a few Irregular

James had fettled some amazing walls for Pavis and the Big Rubble

The whole table was relatively small just a 2x3 footprint, but that's one of the joy's of 6mm gaming

The game featured Sartar rebels and ther Praxian allies meeting the Lunar occupiers outside Pavis

Soon Rhino riders were clashing with the Granite Phalanx as Lunar sorcerers hurled spells

Gloranthan Rune Magic saw the Spirits of the Bison tribe summoned to the aid of the attackers

A great day's gaming with great company. I've wanted to play big Glorantha battles since I read RQ2 back in the early 80s, so this was great to finally get on the table.

There's a whole heap more eye candy (100+ pictures) over on the blog:

Thank you - most of the work not mine, James did the scenery and Matt the bulk of the models.
I did do the Spirit Bison though - in about five minutes flat using Aethermatic Blue contrast paint! Took longer to base than paint.

Did you feel that the rules captured Glorantha well?

Midgard is pretty flexible so we were able to get army lists and effects we were happy with just using the rules and traits. The Summoning spell works well to replicate the arrival of the Bison Spirits and making the Lunar Sorcerers effectively a long range cannon simulates their battlefield effect pretty well IMO.

I'm sure more learned Gloranthofiles might want to add more flavour, and we may do in time, but it gave us two great games straight 'out of the book'

The bridge, walls and buildings look like they’re straight from the cover illustration for River of Cradles. Lovely!

As long as you were happy with the game. The issue I was thinking of was the impact of Lunar magic but the artillery solution sounds as if it worked well.
