Title: WANTED: Stone building with thatched/dirt roof.
Post by: Mr. White on August 10, 2025, 03:27:02 AM
The family took a trip to Scotland this summer and while out in Glencoe we visited this neat Turf and Creel house out in the highlands. I’d like to get something similar for my table. The closest one I see might be these fantastic Fogou (RIP) buildings that were part of the ring fort (Dun!Dun!Dun!) Kickstarter a few years back.

Does anyone have any spare(s) they’d be willing to part with? Thanks!

Dunno about the roundhouse, but Hudson and Allen produce very nice Highland buildingsjust like the ones in your photo. At least three different patterns and available from a US manufacturer/distributor, Michigan I think.

Interesting. If I can’t land a Fogou building I’ll go for one of these. Thanks for the heads-up!

Debris of War, and others, have Celtic round houses:

I have a resin one from the 80s, but no recollection at all of who made it...

Looks like all the resin ones could benefit from cutting a small smoke hole in the roof before the resident minis asphyxiate from burning peat fumes.

Even with a smoke hole, there's plenty enough smoke to keep it bug free and everyone inside smelling like burnt peat all the time.
