Over the weekend I was able to finish a trio of laser cut buildings for games set during the Japanese invasion of Thailand (though naturally they'd also do double duty as plantation bungalows, tennis clubhouses, and customs offices).

These station waiting rooms I had procured from a Chiang Mai-based purveyor of Thai railway buildings. I painted them to match a station I got from the same source about five years ago, somehow managing to nail down the colour scheme despite never having jotted down the paints originally employed. A little win that was very much a welcome boost to my self-esteem.

They're intended for initial use as barracks for Camp Vajiravhud in Nakhon Si Thammarat, the headquarters of Thailand's peninsular command. The site was attacked by the Japanese on the same rain-lashed morning of the Khota Bahru landings in Malaya. What followed was a melee involving rifle-armed artillerymen and transport troops, and even the odd staff officer who’d clearly wandered out of the mess at precisely the wrong moment.

This future refight will constitute my first foray into Chain of Command. Though for that to happen I'll have to get around to acquiring the appropriate markers demanded by the rules.

The buildings are HO scale but work perfectly with 20mm figures.
Thanks for looking!

They look good.
A really different part of WWII to model.
As to CoC makers - it's a while since I played, but I don't think you typically need all the different ones that are available. Given how lovely your models look, I'm not sure I want to suggest card tokens, but they might be an idea for a first game.

I've seen some very inventive ones that really are the height of miniature modelling but think simple abstract ones will suffice for now. I stupidly forgot to include the official laminated card ones in my most recent visit to the TFL store but have identified a few 3d alternatives that may be better for tabletop handling.

Tactical and overwatch are the two main ones.
For shock you can use a dice or generic counters. Use a red one when pinned.
Suppressing fire maybe just a few whiffs of smoke.
Patrol markers and jump off points can be almost anything. No real reason you couldn’t use a figure for the patrol marker. A simple coloured token would be fine for the jop.

Beautiful work. As Jon says you don’t NEED all that many markers it just makes it easier/quicker but if you’re playing with just a single platoon each you’ll find it relatively easy to remember. I hope you enjoy CoC it’s an excellent system.

Wonderful work as always, I enjoy following the project on your blog, nice to see it appearing over here too.

Many thanks for the pointers! I have indeed homed in on a few STL files for my gaming partner to print out. For the patrol and jop tokens we will actually be using poker chips per jon_1066's advice (though we did arrive at it independently as I've only just dropped by the forum!).

Very nice.

I like the barracks, both design and colors.
