So, the previews looked fantastic and Hawkmoon is one of my favorite series. But, there is nothing on the Eureka site. Is there any news as to when these will be available?
-
They announced on their Facebook page, on the 12th of August, that - for whatever reason - they had lost the license, and thus have had to pull the plug on this project.
-
That is so disappointing…

Odd. How can they not just sell them as something else?
-
That would certainly explain why they haven't (I thought overdue) released yet.
I also note on their site that their 10mm Hawkmoon, 28mm Hawkmoon and Jerry Cornelius tabs, that have been available for some time, are now empty of product.

It is odd, yes. Without knowing, I'd guess that the terms of the license maybe required them to destroy the products or something?

Who even owns Hawkmoon?

Who even owns Hawkmoon?
The author Michael Moorcock

Maceface, whom makes the miniatures in question and also the lovely "Hornblower" Shield Maidens and Savages, mentioned this when I asked about them. He mentioned licensing lost, but he said as looking into other options for their release - but don't hold your breath on this.

That may be something to do with an earlier long running IP conflict that Michael Moorcock was (peripherally) involved in. That one turned very nasty.
Only speculation but perhaps a complete clean break was a licence stipulation.
Unlike generic Goblins or Barbarians it would be very hard to claim knights on flamingos with flame lances was not Hawkmoon.

BBC Studios, back in 2019, got the rights to do a TV adaptation of the 'Runestaff' series, which may still be in development (if it does happen let's all hope it's better than what they did to Pratchett's 'Watch') but haven't heard anything more on that. This might be someone shutting down competing licences, or not renewing them, ahead of this series.
Or not, who knows?
