Heyhey, as part of a gaming table commission for WW2 terrain I was handed this kit. I remembered it from my childhood, and I was intrigued by how entirely unglamorous it is, so I decided to write a review of it.

I didn't know it was just a reissue of the Italeri kit! Bit of a shame.

According to Scalemates (a great resource for kit history and reboxing) this kit was a new tool in 1978 under the Esci brand name….nice review, by the way.

Oh yes, loads of the terrain they sell under the Bolt Action label is. To be fair, they also put the Italeri logo on there. Problem is that it's all 1/72nd stuff. :D Which works for some things (walls, bridge, Battlefield Accessories for the most part), not so much for others ( https://www.battlebrushstudios.com/2015/04/review-warlord-gamesitaleri-wrecked.html (https://www.battlebrushstudios.com/2015/04/review-warlord-gamesitaleri-wrecked.html) ).
Nonetheless, I rather enjoyed getting quite a lot of value out of this box.

So the big difference (other than the addition of wire and decals/transfers) is that this kit is produced in a harder plastic, whereas the original Italeri and Esci kits were produced in a softer plastic (like their soft plastic soldier ranges), yes?

I had that kit.
Don't know what happened to it. I think it is my large box of bits.

I remember the Esci version - it was very much 1/72 scale and I would have thought the items would look tiny alongside modern 28mm figures.
I note on the warlord box the Czech hedgehogs have become infantry blockers rather than the anti-tank obstacles in the original kit.

I've got the Italeri set (with Italeri branding on the box, I mean) and it's hard plastic, I'm pretty sure it took plastic glue just fine but it's been a while since I built any of it.

The plastic and general make of the sprues in that box very, very much look like original Italeri stuff. The original Italeri kits I worked with back in the day were hard(ish) plastic; only for infantry they used the soft, vinyl-like stuff IIRC.
The only difference between the Italeri and Warlord version is the box, the decals and the wire.

The only reason I ask is that, although I never had this particular kit, I did get a similar (horse and musket era) Italeri one and a slightly different one from Esci (I think) and both of them were in a softer plastic. And it wasn't really something you mentioned in the review (although it was on the box) so I just thought I'd ask.
