Title: A day at the Office
Post by: Wilgut Spleens on 25 September 2025, 05:12:06 PM
Here is a short blog about my most recent trip to Wargames Illustrated to add the finishing touches to my new Ruckus based game Assassins and Templars https://wilgut.blogspot.com/2025/09/saladins-cave-or-day-at-office.html

Do you need the original Ruckus (or NMtB) rules at all?

I see they are still out of stock on the WI site and I gave mine away to a needy gent (ie someone interested in the original period)...

Nope! A&T is a complete stand alone game with everything you need to play, including rules for mounted characters, contained within its covers! More content, new scenarios, new Heroes etc will become available in the near future

When we are nearer the publication date I will write a detailed blog about the game itself

This is great news. I am planning a game of Assassins and Templars the minute the magazine arrives. By a happy coincidence, Vagabond (of this forum) is coming to stay for a few days gaming over the weekend of November 1st and this will be one of our games.

Wonder how long the mag will take to get to West Oz. Supply of WI to my FLGS here has been very erratic since Covid times, I think the last one in shop was May 2025.

Very keen to see what is in A&T.

That's good to hear! I would love to know how you get on and an AAR would really float my boat

Will do. BTW, I meant to ask, how many figures a side do I need?

12 is the answer.
for the Templars one Brother knight, two brother serjeants, three Turcopoles, three spear mane and three Archers

for the Assassins
One Fidais Shayke (sounds like an order in an American ice cream parlour) two Fidais, three Fidais novices, three Spearman, three Archers

I view my rules as belonging to whomever purchases them so feel free to change the order about or use different number, these Retinues worked well in playtesting and seem balanced

OK, that's great thanks. I've got more than enough to play a game then, cheers.
