Title: Heroscape tiles as modular terrain?
Post by: Blockhead123 on 28 September 2025, 11:18:42 PM
Anyone else here use Heroscape tiles as the base for modular terrain?
I was given a stack of these tiles a while back, and realised that re-painted and with some extra pieces created on 40mm across mdf hex bases, they make a great way of representing North-West Frontier terrain for small-scale colonial battles

I've definetly seen them getting used for modular battletech tables before, and occasionally on other hex based games as well but more rare that.

I used these a great deal for block based games but the resin blocks had a terrible slipping issue!
Tried flocking them, painting them and roughing the surface but sadly sold them a few years ago.

A fair number of "Portable Wargame" folk have used them - an example can be seen at http://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~warden/portable_wargame/ (http://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~warden/portable_wargame/)

Thanks Andrew - it is actually the author of that blog who passed them on to me.
I have added a couple more pictures to give people an idea of how I am using them
