Title: Terrain storage cupboards: show me yours
Post by: Daeothar on 01 October 2025, 03:19:00 PM
Here's a question:

I've just about ran out of space to store more terrain pieces, even though I'm rearing to get on with them; terrain building is just so much fun!

But I also don't want to stack all of that terrain into plastic or cardboard boxes to be stored underneath benches and desks (been there, done that). I should add that I'm in the lucky position to have a dedicated room for my hobby shenanigans, so there's that.

Right now, I'm thinking of a 30cm deep cupboard with shelves about 30cm apart and vertical dividers 60cm apart, so I can store even my largest terrain pieces (maybe you remember that collapsed overpass from the BSC several years back). Underneath some overhead shelves on the wall in question, I can place a cupboard of 185cm high and about the same in width.

Ideally, I'll be adding glass doors as well, to prevent the pieces from getting too dusty. I've got the beginnings of a plan in my head, but I'd like to see what others have come up with.

So; show me your solutions for storing and displaying terrain in cupboards :)

I love your plans but, I’m still where you are today, with boxes of terrain, underneath the gaming table.
It’s a right pain to pull one game apart, then set up another.
Oh well.

Mine is all in 50 litre RuBs so they can be moved about or taken to the games club if I need to.
