Hi I'm just starting to built up a British 28mm Army mainly from the brilliant new plastics available :).
I'm very pleased with my paintings, however the flags coming with the Victrix boxes look much too shiny I think :(.
So now I'm looking for a way to get more hanging down and cloth like looking flags.
Is there some other supplier or a special material / treatment when painting my owm flags?
Looking forward to helpful comments, cheers Thomas

The Flag Dude. Not the cheapest, but probably the best in my humble opinion. Here is the site:

Have you tried "warflags" :

It is possible to paint onto very fine linen, which can give superb results. Barry Hilton's "League Of Augsburg" site - http://www.leagueofaugsburg.com/index.php - has plenty of his flags in the gallery. For example:

Maybe this is what you are after?

And there is a PDF guide for flag making here:

My way:
The mermaid should stand both for the name of the ship as for her female captain, so it is only logical to show her in the colour, I think.
I made it from usual writing paper which I soaked in water to get it soft. I laid it in folds and dried it thoroughly before painting.
The matt varnish makes it stiff enough to endure on the gaming table...

I also made one that´s "curved". It´s done in the same way like the colours above:

Yet another way -

Metal foil tomato purée tube: Easy to work into a rippling flag shape (or a crumpled flag hanging with no wind), and however you bend it it stays that way. Then hand-painted.

And a good excuse for another pic with that young lady in it :-* lol

That is the personification of Revolutionary France; and stands for Liberty, Democracy and the spirit of the Republic.
How dare you! Didn't your mummy ever teach you it's not polite to stare at another country's boobs?

My method is:
. Download the flag from warflag
. With mspaint remove all colour from the image
. print some flags in comon paper
. Hand paint the flag
. glue it with paper glue
the results:
