An image stuck in my head for the last 2 years, and I suddenly got the urge to build it.

More 28mm scaled then 20mm, I only had the first pic to go on. Of course, Google is your friend and then I see a traffic sign and a wreath, giving me a hint of the scale. And I need to recut 1 letter a bit. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_WAX48Ob6pzI/Sk8Mq2jjNVI/AAAAAAAADec/E3QZF1fthCc/s1600-h/IMG_2390.jpg
But other then that I think it is ok. Still plenty of work to do.
-
Very unusual and splendidly done.
-
What is it?
-
A sign for the city of Prypriat in the standard over the top Russian concerete style. It used to house the workers for the nuclear plant in Chernobyl. I want it for the roadway leading into the deserted city, one of the several soviet monuments/landmarks I'm working on but progress is slow as almost everything has to be built from scratch.
-
That would be a cool setting for a post-apoc game..
Or alternative history...
-
Love it! A real attention-getter. Who makes the figure?
-
Very nice and what a coincidence!
I am playing Stalker: The Call of Pripyat at the moment and was thinking: "What a nice post Apocalyptic setting..."
Your sign gives me more ideas...
Thanks for sharing.
-
@ Wolf: It is from Elhiem, 20mm scale though.
@Agis: I had the same thoughts with the original Stalker and started hoarding appropriate kit for it. But alas, to create a derelict Soviet atmosphere there is much scratchbuilding to be done, so it is taking time.
-
Very nice. Was wondering when I'd start seeing Pripyat themed terrain after CoD 4 and later, when the STALKER game came out. It'll look smashing when you've got it all done up and stuff.
-
Very impressive piece of terrain. :)
One of my friends also made terrain for his game based on STALKER.
so look results of his work:

Ooh :o Those are rather useful. What scale are those? Got more pictures or even a game in progress?

Sir, those figs are the Biz! (even if they are in the wrong scale for me)

they are from Russian miniatures company named "Ratnik miniatures" .
Company makes interesting lines of post apocalyptic (stalker style) miniatures, modern russian army miniatures and fantasy dwarfs Vs goblins minis.
All of their stuff 28mm. And compatible with classic sci fi lines like cooplestone castings.
Some more examples of their stuff painted by me:

Thanks for the links, those are the best miniatures ever! Now Wayswatcher will have to build the whole city :)
-
Brilliant stuff! Both the roadsign and the Stalker buildings. I was thinking doing just something like that, using Copplestone and Warzone figs.

Thank God not, those models are 28mm and I game in 20mm. Having said that, they are extremely tempting.......but I'm on a self imposed miniature embargo so no go o_o
-

1. Yes, they speak english.
2. I do not know. It is better to ask this question to them.
-
Anyway, back to why I started this topic in the first place.....
First weathering, several more to come.
-
Spot on city sign! I love it.

And now it is finished.
Front

Rear
(http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j17/wayswatcher/20mm%20Moderns/The%20Factory/Prypiatfinishedrear.jpg)
2 more coats of paint and all you can see is the added weathering >:( Oh well.
-
excellent :-*

I still love it!

?
LoL! lol My thought exactly after reading the comment!
What is the message??? ???
-
Like the weathering, on sign. :)
I hope this is not the last terrain piece that you're going to build for the Pripyat?
I would be interested to see the continuation of your project...
-
?
The children's shadows on the reverse side.
-
It's not meant to be the effect of a neutron bomb mate lol just graffiti.
The grain elevator will be the last for now, as I have other commitments meaning I'm trying to finish that asap. When that is done I'll be back with this project.
-
It's not meant to be the effect of a neutron bomb mate lol just graffiti.
It's Banksy! ;D
-
I love all of this Russian post Apoc stuff comeing out lately. i cant wait to see what you do with this.
To bad Stalker: The Call of Pripyat is not out in the Us now, but I just orderd the first two. I have been puting that off for to long lol
-
fantastic! i love it! those figures are sweet too!
-
What an imaginative peice of terrain! Inspirational sir. May have to steal this idea.
-
It's not meant to be the effect of a neutron bomb mate lol just graffiti.
Ooooooh.
-
Excellent finished peice
-
Very nice, and it will add a ton of character to a board... I also have to say that I appreciate the thread-jack, as those post-apoc soviets are boss.
-

I must admit, when I saw the "shadows" on the model I thought that it was intended to be the effect of a nuke.
Thats a fantastically evocative piece of terrain. I hope that you keep updating this thread as you build more. If the rest of it is as cool as this then the final table should be a treat :)
-
Great stuff, and surely to create those figures you could use some pig iron heads on some urban character bodies if you cant get hold of figures.
As said great stuff
Steve
-
That's flippin' awesome!
I love the banksy style grafitti.

Mininatur, propably buffalo grass tufts (or the 2 tone ones), autumn moss pads and other autumn grasses with 1 or 2 pads of summer tufts. Can't tell for sure, been quite a while and my collection of tufts from Mininatur has tripled since then.
