I have finally finished my Somali's, all 72 of them.
Originally started over 3 years ago for a Blackhawk Down game that never got off the ground (pun intended :D)
I recently dug them out and have finished them off for some Ambush Alley games.

I also made 5 'Hotspot' counters for them:

They had their first game last night, narrowly losing to the US forces, 20 points to 17 points

Those look ace.
I didn't get a chance to look at your game, but I would have really liked to have tried it by the sound of it! :)

Yikes!
That's a heck'va group of fighters and the Hotspot markers are just way cool!

Can hotspots fight back in Ambush alley or are they just markers?

Hotspots are passive. They are used to denote where insurgents can appear on the table depending on the result of a D6. 1-5 appear at the appropriate point. 0n a 6 the insurgent player chooses which point they appear at. I imagine they are similar to 'spawn' points in zombie games.
The 'regular forces' player has the incentive to eradicate the hotspots to limit insurgent reinforcements. In some scenarios this is a specific mission requirement.

ah, good to know if the urge to model should come over me :)

Great looking force you have there Overlord.

Hot spots are as described above, IMO a real blessing and also a burden of the AA game.
Blessing: Nice game mechanic. :)
Burden: If you are not building them as beautiful as above additional ,markers clutter your table, and for me it always looked strange when a insurgent just appear out of nowhere on the table...
:-[ (Like a spawning point in an old Computer game...)
Nice force BTW!

Thanks for all the feedback. :D

I'm generally not keen on counters etc on the table in any game. Hotspots can be almost anything, even a building in theory. You can use almost anything you like that would fit in with your own setting.
As for appearing out of nowhere, I think it fairly well represents the uncertainty for 'regular' forces of where the enemy is. Certainly for my Somalis it recreates the lack of local knowledge the US forces have. 'Blackhawk Down' seems to give a good idea of this (I know its a movie, will all the limitations that imposes, but looks pretty convincing to me) with civilians and insurgents all over the place.
