Title: Russian Izba
Post by: Westfalia Chris on April 27, 2007, 08:20:14 PM
Privyet!

Some weeks ago, I built a prototype for "izba-style" houses to use with my Eastern Front Germans (WW2) or the WW1 Germans... of course, now that I´m struck by the Bobfever, that might be useful as well.

I built it from XPS foam (the dense, "Styrodur" type insulation foam), with a painting board base and teddy fur roof. I like the final look, but am not too happy with the proportions - I want to build a small farmstead of two houses and maybe a barn/shed, but lower and with larger floorplan. :?

The miniature, added for scale, is a Battle Honours Resistance Fighter - just imagine he´s a partisan.

Very nice model. :)  I particularly like the roof. I must try that roofing technique.

I used the chopped up towel method myself, and quite like it. Never have tried the fur...
