Title: Fantasy room as birthday present
Post by: Burgundavia on 09 January 2010, 05:57:41 AM
I have been working on a room as a present for a friend who is my GM, as a display piece. The work isn't done, but I need to be done by tomorrow night. Most of the items in the room represent something from each of the games she has run for us.

That is pretty damn good.

I'm always envious of people who give customized gaming gifts to their friends.

Nice, and you get to use it too.  Best of all worlds.

Yeah it makes me wonder where do you order friends like that? I don't seem to be able to find any in the online stores.

The room is now finished, with all the furniture installed. Nearly everything is scratch-built, including the books on the bookshelves. Molded items are a mix of air-drying clay and milliput. Walls and floor are Hirst Arts molds, the basic fieldstone and basic floor, with an accent of the flat pieces from the Roman mold. Conservatively, I think I spent about 20 hours on this project, from start to finish.

That's a wonderful present! And it's a great looking model too.

I did something similar for someone: a diorama with a space to put a miniature they were painting. Unfortunately it just ended up as a paper weight.

Hope to see this in some kind of battle report soon! It must look awesome with figures on it.

That looks great. Now her challenge will be to fit that into every dungeon you hit from now on.  :)

When I read the title I thought it was a thoughtful gift for a Tory cabinet minister of your aquaintance.

All these months and then suddenly new comments. As for Tory ministers, most have taken enough "considerations" to be able to pay their own fantasy rooms.  :D
