Couple more vehicles for the motorpool:
First up, a Hazmat Truck - (fire engine kindly sent to me by AEG - thanks again mate!)

Hmmm...maybe I overdid gore, but it was a BIG bumper.....

Second, a logistics vehicle (1:50th diecast dustcart) - drums are from Fenris, the rest are from Frontline IIRC.

Not forgetting the rest of the Hazmat team.

-
You slacking and missed an opportunity to have a good wiper smeer/clearance sweep of the wiper! ;)
Nice fire trunk, make?
-
Awesome, Akula. I think the gore on the truck is just fine:) Looks the part to me, anyway.

-

The fire engine is superb. I wan't one now!
-
Thanks for the comments chaps!
:)

You do learn stuff from wargaming. What is Hazmat, I wondered. A quick google and I have the answer. If I hadn't read this thread, I'd never have known.
So, this Monday morning has led to new knowledge, all thanks to wargaming. Despite the weather, that makes me feel all warm and cosy.
Thanks LAF.

WOW :o
I love this stuff, I reckon the truck must have hit a Boomer!
Thanks for sharing, quite inspirational!
-
Great work on everything, but I also particularly love the fire engine 8)
-
Nice additions to Akulaville.
-
Hello,
Any chance of more pics of you Hazmat team? I can see soem are converted Eureka NBC troops but i am intrigued but your conversions....
Very nice work all round too, thank for posting
EDIT: always check the blog first!
-
Just gorgeous. I love the zombie bits on the front of the big truck.
-
These are the toys I always WANTED to play with as a kid.
AWESOME!
-
Great looking stuff!
-
One day I will start my Zombie (near future) project, then I want such nice toys too. Like it a lot, really!
-
Yes, the zombie-splash is a nice addition! Good stuff!!
-
The Hazmat Truck is cool. Its an interesting choice of colours too, going for a more military look than an emergency services one.
The collection of zombie related military vehicles, particularly the truck with the barrels reminds me of Return of the Living Dead. Some manufacturer (Eureka maybe?) makes barrels with zombie emerging from them. I never got around to picking them up.
It might be a little more in the comedic zombie vein than you are looking for though :)
-
Yup - Eureka do "Toxic" zombies coming out of barrels - I use them on some of my spawn points:

I went with military colours, rather than civvie, as the hazmat teams will be heavily-armed from Fort Detrick, specifically a fictious offshoot from USAMRIID rather than a civilian agency. Gives me the opportunity to try out some experimental kit, later on.
More on Fort Detrick here, if you are interested:

I intend on playing different phases of infection, as a campaign, that could go either way.
PHASE ONE - Initial Outbreak - Law Enforcement, riot police & Swat Teams have to cope, and evacuate at the sametime.
PHASE TWO - All out war - Military take over - a Yonkers Style battle
PHASE THREE - Survival - survivors scavenge to stay alive - more L4D-style game
PHASE FOUR - Fightback - USAMRIID teams try out some experimental weapons to make up for the much smaller numbers of people left to eradicate the zombie menace...
;)

Interesting stuff.
It reminds me of the sort of place where something gruesome like the Tuskegee Syphilis Study (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_Syphilis_Study) might have taken place. In the back of my head I figure that something like that could be where patient zero showed up.

I had a day of trying out your AR:SE ( ;) ) planned for last weekend but weather stopped play. We had the bare bones of a few scenarios laid out in advance but I was wondering if you have any scenarios planned for the various stages that you have outlined above, or do you make a lot of the scenario stuff up on the fly?
Nice spawn points BTW.

I generally plan out scenarios based upon what terrain/minis i've got, and the gaming area/number of players i've got - I'm lucky to have, apart from 359 zombies (and counting), literally hundreds of options, when it comes to survivors, police, military etc
I'm going to add some campaign rule suggestions to AR:SE, together with some ideas for playing either a World War Z total all out war, game, or a L4D-style skirmish, with "special" zeds - will post on here, and my blog, when they are ready for playing. I'll also try and include some general scenario ideas, for those looking for some inspiration!

If all y'all want one, it looks like the fire truck is a Corgi Cyclone II, probably the 1:50th scale item. There are some available on eBay, watch for the one that's $20, it's in Hong Kong. Maybe be a knockoff, may not be a knockoff, but if you live in the USA like I do, the shipping would kill any savings.
Edit: Apologies to any fans of fire fighting equipment - it would be a fire engine, not a fire truck. I'm the father of a three year old boy, and should know the difference quite well. A fire truck has a ladder, a fire engine carries water. However, the Cyclone II can apparently be configured into a bunch of different uses.
-
it is the 1/50 corgi one... was it baltimore livery or something like that Akkie?
got it for a fiver on ebay when I was desperate for something to use as UNIT HQ...
-

erm...it was red and white...
now its green and yellow....
:D
-
Brilliant painted, youve done some stunning models justice
-
Wow...love them!!!! Excellent colour schemes. :D
I agree too!
Please, could you put some others pictures with more details of the miniatures?
