Now that I've committed to running a US force for the Atlantis campaign, I thought I should start posting pictures of the force as it gets completed. To start with, here are the US Marines. I've posted pictures of some of these before, but I want to use this thread to show off the entire force as it develops.
US Marines:

Figures are all US Marines from the Redoubt Boxer Rebellion range, with the exception of the officer and sergeant in the second picture, which are Parroom Station US Infantry
Support Weapons:

Colt machinegun is from the Redoubt Boxer Rebellion range, crew are Redoubt and Tiger Miniatures. Driggs-Schroeder 1pdr gun on landing carriage and its crew are Tiger Miniatures.
Command - Captain N.R.A.Heston and Sergeant Eastwood:

Both figures are Tiger Miniatures. Sergeant Eastwood is a converted army mule handler.
Steam Tech - Iron Man combat suit:

Parroom Station model.
I wanted to give my marines the appearance of troops drawn from several ships/detachments, with variations on equipment. The majority are from Redoubt because I like the 'campaign-worn' look about them. To break up the standardised look of these figures I used a few Tiger and Parroom Station US Army figures as weapon crew and additional command figures (avoiding adding Tiger riflemen into the marine rifle units because the Tiger rifles are way out of scale compared with those of Redoubt). When finished, these marines will be good quality troops with plenty of mobility and light support weapons. However, they will lack heavy armour and artillery.
Next up:

Beautiful I love Heston and Eastwood. Wish I had thought of those names. ;)

Can't wait to see the reinforcements!

Lovely work there Bullshott, and it's good to see the guys 'in the flesh', so to speak. Hopefully they'll see a bit more action in coming days, or at least get to go a bit further from Port Harrison than 12 miles up-river and back again...
-
great stuff here!! ;D
-
Lovely work!
It's very interesting to see how well the Parroom and Redoubt figures fit in together. Worth investigating further :)
You've even managed to make the Tiger minis look good, so full marks to you, sir!

Hi!
Those are great.
If I hadn't decided to do Martians next, I would definitely get into doing some US!

The period of self-imposed isolation following the American Civil War mean that US forces saw few benefits of modern 'steam age' technology until the US re-emerged as a world player in the 1880s. The lumbering steam walkers of the Civil War era were obsolete by the standards of other nations, so the army purchased British Lowen Steam Walkers, manufactured in the US under licence, to fill the gap in their resources whilst new US designs could be developed. When the US Marines serving on Venus realised their urgent need for walkers in that environment they were loaned two of the army's walkers. These proved so sucesssful that the Marines adopted this design as a standard part of their armoury. As such, it would have been unthinkable for the Marines not to have taken their beloved Gatling armed walkers with them to Atlantis:

Also supporting the Marines on Atlantis are US Navy landing parties, this one commanded by Ensign Thomas Cruise:

Great stuff Dave, glad to see the Lowen walkers being pressed into service by the Yanks. I think we will be seeing quite a few of these on Atlantis ;)

Splendid moustache on Ensign Cruise. It "takes my breath away" as you might say ;)

Groan.
Have you noticed though he bears no relation to the real Thomas Cruise, the figure's too tall, he should be 20mm instead lol

he should be 20mm instead
15mm surely!

Love the reinforcements!
Thomas Cruise... lol

Awesome looking NEF you have there. Who makes the naval crew and landing parties that you are using?

The sailors in the landing parties are Old Glory, from the Spanish American War range. The only exception is chief mcQueern, who is a Parroom Station mini with his head replaced with one from an OG sailor.
The nef crew are OG sailors fromm their Boxer Rebellion range, again with heads replaced with ones from the OG Spanish American War sailors. I also added greenstuff collars to the shirts of two of the sailors.

It all looks great but especially the 'Nef.

Top quality stuff (as always) - railings on the nef finish it off nicely
-
That Nef looks tip-top old chap! :-*
How did you do the railings, by the way? I would like to try something similar with mine but am wary of making an arse of it...
-
I've come rather late to this post,

The brass stanchions for the railings (as well as the ventilators and lifebelts) are model boat fittings.
