Isn't this a beauty? I just found it accidentally and had a look at canadian company Kobblestone Miniatures who produce a treasure of buildings and accessories for different settings and periods. Didn't know this company till now, so I thought I should show you this very nice stuff. Some more pics:

WOW!  I love that Spanish fort.
Though there were a bunch of stuff in the Gallery section I wish they made for production. ;)
And too bad the roofs don't come off, but still they are great looking!

I've seen their stuff before and honestly - don't hate me - I don't quite like it. There is something very surreal and fantasy about their terrain. I prefer scenery with a more historical feel - even for my medieval fantasy games. It still is top quality stuff, of course!

I had seen those before but well worth seeing again, and again.

Awesome!

My favourites are the Demon Tomb (http://www.kobblestone.ca/images/catalogue/demonbeast/demon_main01.jpg) and the Sea Monster (http://www.kobblestone.ca/images/catalogue/fish/fish_front.JPG). The latter is SO straight from a Medieval/Early Modern map or the 1994 "Colonization" intro...

Yes, I've been drooling over these for a while now...

I believe the Celtic fort is now a production model... Almost tempting enough to make me want to invest in a whole heap of Celtos miniatures and re-enact the tales of CĂșchullain...

But I won't. Too much lead in the mountain already...

I bet you could justify for the first round of the LPL...

I'm not helping, am I?

I love the Celt fort... but I wouldn't use it for Celts.   o_o

Exactly my new project! Just need my Warped Slaine from Foundry, and I'm on my way!

I am inclined to agree with Cianty. Really nicely designed and made, and well painted too, but there is a touch of "Lilliput Lane"* about them that just leaves me a little cold. I have a feeling they won't be cheap either.

* Lilliput Lane made (maybe still make?) resin cast, pre-painted buildings around 10mm scale. They were intended to be ornaments but quickly got used as terrain pieces.

Make that three of us. Nicely produced but yes it looks far too cutesy/fantasy for my taste. The walls/gateway for the 'Spanish' mission might be useful however.

Those really are quite nice but I tend to agree that they seem a tad bit too "fairy tale" like. More like GW terrain stuff. Not realistic enough for me.

What a coincedence - stumbled across Kobblestone two days ago and ordered one of the medeival buildings straight away.
Lovely looking things in the pictures and I'm looking forward to seeing them when they arrive.

Doesn't look Spanish to me.  :(

To picture one: We here say, "Nicht Fisch, nicht Fleisch" ("Not fish, not meat").
It looks like a mix of spanish indonesian thai etc.
But so it is suitable for many settings  :D

AND, what ever - all buildings looks great!   :-*

I assumed being a mission it was located in one of the Spanish colonies and therefore had absorbed some of the indigenous architectural style.

Only if the indigenous culture is fairy (as in the other world meaning of the word)  :o that we are talking about.   lol

Not at all appealing to me for any game even remotely semi-historical.

Brillant work but I'd have to sell it off if gifted with one.   :'(

YMMV.

Garcias,   ;)

Since a lot of pirate figures and ship models are a bit cute and fantasy oriented anyway, I'd say this company's products fit in very well here on the swashbuckling thread.  The 28mm figures most of us love aren't anymore anatomically correct than these cute buildings.  The overall effect might be less cute if mixed into a town with some rougher worse-for-wear buildings and other bits.  A lot of the buildings I'll be using will be scratchbuilt by a friend in trade for some figures that he wants from me.  But I think this stuff would mix in well to represent the more beautiful parts of my sordid Spanish or Italian towns.  Since that Spanish mission set as a whole is priced less than $300, it's something I think I'll aspire to.  Gives me motivation to make more money...

Those northern European style buildings are certainly cute, but Three Musketeers seems to be a cute genre to me anyway.  At least the movies seemed cute.  And the figures are also cute.  Again, could mix in some rougher more gritty buildings and stuff to tone down the overall cute effect.

Great to see these lines expanding so much.  Maybe the WW2 terrain will be grittier, if the company takes note of the feedback here.

What material are these terrain pieces cast from?  Are they resin?

Like I said on TMP, the mission walls themselves are not particularly bad, really it's just the gates.  Replace them and it's perfect.  The rest of the line is also a bit ostentatious, if not lovely.

Points taken.

Just too much... something... for me.

I tend to agree that it's all a little too Disneyland. The Medieval tomb might be a nice setting for a Regency or Victorian ersatz Gothic scenario - i.e. a duel or cult ritual. And the Medieval church might pass as a Balkan church with elements of Middle Eastern.

Disneyland!  Exactly!  Thanks for the word.

Yes, quite nice as a Fantasy piece though.

Sigh, maybe the grognard in me is too prominent lately.  I really wanted to be tempted enough to buy this.

But the craft in the structure is waaaay ahead of my abilities.

Gracias,

Glenn
