Title: Search for the amulet
Post by: The Somnambulist on 31 January 2010, 10:23:38 PM
Two sides

1. Lobster Johnson and friends

2. A group of German archeologists

Both groups started at opposite corners of the playing area.

The Germans were the first to encounter a mummy!

Lobster Johnson encounters............................nothing!

One of Lobster Johnson's men encounters a mummy.

With both mummies dispatched Lobster Johnson and his men try to outflank the Germans, killing one of the Germans in the process.

The 2 remaining Germans charge up the hill to recover the amulet and Succeed, they also succeeed in disturbing 2 more mummies.

The lead German (female) archeologist made it off the board (with the amulet), the second German was injured and captured by Lobster Johnson.

The scenery and the miniatures both look great.

You would think that with all the mummies that archaeologists face, they would have fire or something as a standard tool.  lol

Great job!

Awesome terrain, I especially like the little railcars for disposing of the sand around the digging.

What stats did you use for the mummies?

Hi All,

Thanks for the positive comments, guys. TS and I the enjoyed game, especially as we got a chance to use figures and terrrain which we have had around for a little while and never used.

Wirelizard - the stats we used for the mummies are from Richard's "Guardian of the Golden Idol" download

http://www.rattrap-productions.com/PulpHeroes/Downloads/Guardian.pdf

The mummies are tough cookies.

Operator5 - "fire" - this was only our second .45 game and I wasn't to sure how "burning" the bandaged creeps would work in the game mechanics, so any pointers would be helpful.

We are planning a few more games to discover the remaining pieces of the amulet, which will be set in other locations and we will hopefully post photos when time allows.

Great looking game :-* :-*
The table looks great. Have you any more photos of it or can you tell us how you made it? Where are the mine carts from?

Hi Gamer Mac,

Thanks for the comments.

The mine tubs were made by "Roco" but I don't think they are available atm. You can sometimes pick them up second hand at model railway shops - they are for 009/HOe narrow gauge railways but work well for pulp gaming. I removed the couplings to make them look more authentic.

The main board started life as a model railway layout, but I saw sense and removed half the track and produced an archaeological dig site - ideal for .45 Adventure. The basic scenery is mdf base with polystyrene hill; the rocks are from Homebase, painted and drybrushed. The sand is ... sand from Wickes ( I dried and graded it) before applying to the base. I normally use a watered down PVA to hold the sand in place.

The  model railway, before it became terrain

The smaller ruins are from "Monolith" and the larger roman/greek columns are either pegasus or scenix (can't remember which). They are good value - a pair in a box and ready painted to boot.

Hope this helps

What a fun report and great photos.  Why is it that the femme fatale is the one that always gets away?
