Title: Putilov Garford
Post by: Tobsen77 on February 08, 2010, 06:33:50 PM
Hi... after three nights of nothing than building (finally) I came up with this. Hope you like it so far:

I have a new camera, didn't figure out all the new features yet... a bit shitty images because of that ;)

OK now I'm interested, this is the Russian armoured car I have always wanted a model of. Great work

You're a brave man Tobi.  Looks good so far.  As always, however, it would be so much help to have a figure in the picture for scale.  Strangely, figures provide me with a better idea of scale than does a ruler.   :)

From me, once Tobi's got it done and is comfortable with the final design:) Thank you for agreeing to do this one, Tobi.

Now, this one tempts me.  I have Cromwell's in 1/76 but it would be nice to get a larger one.

Excellent. Shall I put you down for a battalion, then?;)

Incidentally, Schogun, thanks for the kind comments on our other stuff elsewhere. I am grateful:)

Always happy to spread the word about good people, good products and good service.

You know, I would buy a battalion if that many were at a battle at the same time. (I don't know...)

More likely, if they could fit on a game table with all my other RCW armored vehicles! (And with your Romfell coming soon.)  ;D

Alas, historically speaking, you would be pushed to put more than one or two on the table at any given time.

This is looking great  :), if I was being hyper critical I would say the 76mm main gun barrel looks a bit oversized.  But regardless of that I'll definately be buying one when available and have to say, I'm continually amazed by the quality and speed of the work you produce in plasticard. Top stuff.  :)

Thanks... I oversized the gun on purpose, it looked a little too tiny in realistic scale. ;)

already excellent model!!

not a bad idea to oversize the gun, but adding a real scale alternative could prove wise for the rivet counting customers

I agree. Tobi, if you'd also do a realistic sized gun, I would appreciate it.

Hi,

I reduced the gunsize. With more details coming up it looked a little too big.
I'll start riveting this week, then come the wheels  o_o

Just out of curiosity, Tobi, what do you use for rivets? Or is that a trade secret?;)

I even sell the tool I use to produce rivets. It is a very complicated finemechanic piece of engineering, so it is not cheap. It produces rivets in every size! Order now, only 50 Euro!

Only the Maxims are missing and some putty here and there.

"When can I buy some?"

Soon as he gets off his lazy butt and mails it to me... *grin* Just kidding. Whenever Tobi's ready, I'll send him payment, and then it'll be shipped here. Probably three to four weeks in transit, and... given current time at the Caster, I'd say... April at the earliest, maybe? Some of his stuff gets here pretty quickly, so it's a possibility.

Will Tobi supply the correct scale gun?

The gun on the latest pictures already is smaller than before. More realism won't work for me ;) Tobi

Will Tobi supply the correct scale gun?

The correct scale gun (the smaller one) is the one shipping with the model from us. If Tobi sends the large gun as well I might consider including both, but most folks will probably want the historical weapon.

Not absolutely certain of pricing. What's Copplestone charging these days for armored cars, anyway?

Mark doesn't have the Garford listed or priced yet, but his other A/Cs range from ₤15-₤20 = approx $25-$35. So your prices are comparable.

Noted, thanks Schogun.

Generally speaking, if that's the case, our prices will probably be the same, or slightly cheaper, based upon the exchange rate and price of shipping. I like Mark a lot, so I don't mind friendly competition with him. His work is very good, and I'm sure he's touching some things we won't get to. That said, I happen to think Tobi's Garford is just as nice:)
