Title: Solomon Kane Project WIP
Post by: elysium64 on 14 February 2010, 03:39:55 PM
Have started on this project utilising a lot of old figures from my Lead mountain plus a few new ones and quite a few trades via the Bazaar.
For the Solomon Kane figure I have souced several figures and although both the Brigade Puritan and Doc Twilights Abel are both beautiful figures they are a little to small to tie in with the other figures I am using (I will still paint the Doc Twilight Abel figure as he is so nice and may use him him for the european encounters), primarily Foundry, Reaper and GW, so inspired by a thread on the Gloire yahoo group I have converted this figure

I removed the scroll retaining the original hand, and using a wire armature and GS sculpted the ju-ju staff, also sculpted some hair and a waist sash. I removed the fantasy style sword and scabbard and replaced with one from TAG.

He is now undercoated and work will continue slowly whilst I finish off some other projects. In the meantime I will continue sourcing/trading for miniatures I need.

I see that is a Rackham fig, but which one?

Also, isn't Rackham figs HUGE compared to Foundry and Black Scorpions?

The figure is the Demonhunter 2 (maybe a space between Demon and hunter).
Although the figures are largish, he looks good next to the Foundry, and a little leeway is allowed as he is described as a tall man in the books. I will post comparison pic's in next couple of days.

Good work Simon, what are your plans for this? I presume something skirmishy, are you going for the Gloire Rules?

Hi Paul,
I am looking at the Gloire rules, and also considering an adaptation of the Foundry Frei Korps rules. Definately looking at Skirmish level, initially African, but want to expand to European adventures as well.
I have been very lucky so far in being able to trade for most of the figures that I am missing. Still looking for an African Queen type figure (not the boat lol). would also like to find some bat winged beaked humanoids.
Should have finished figure posted by end of week.

As you've said your using Reaper figures have you thought of this one for your African Queen?

She's called Nehanda, I've always thought she has that African feel to her!
