Title: Witch Hunter / Solomon Kane lookin' figs...
Post by: richarDISNEY on 17 February 2010, 03:22:57 PM
I am looking for some Witch/Daemon Hunter figs.
Ones that would look great as a companion to Solomon Kane.

I have Doc Twilight's Able, and the Rusted Heroes fig.
Any others?  I know that Rakham made a few, but I cannot seem to find them...
Any others?
Thanks!

Here's a guy from Reaper.  More Witch Hunter than Kane though.

Brigade Games has some pilgrims that would work well.

Hi
I have just recently started a Solomon Kane poject see: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=16463.0
The Rackham figure I purchased from ebay, search for Demonhunter 2.
in my research I hane found various figures links provided:

Black Cat Bases-a nice figure but very large, nearly 35mm,about halfway down the page http://www.blackcatbases.com/product.asp?P_ID=553

Brigade Games- fourth figure along, lovely fig by Paul Hicks, a true 25mm so could be to small
http://www.brigadegames.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BG-KPW102&Category_Code=BGKPW&Product_Count=7

Warlord Games- useful companion pack
http://shop.warlordgames.co.uk/fire-and-brimstone-2004-p.asp

Wargames Foundry- this range is perfect for providing adventurers etc. Also their Darkest Africa range provides you with all the native tribesmen you could need.
http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/SB/3/index.asp
On this second page by using the figure from the first pack (top row, far right) and adding the hat with feather removed from the second pack bottom left I have created an alternative Solomon Kane figure I will post him on my thread later tonight so you can see.
http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/SB/6/index.asp

Games Workshop- slightly more fantasy orientated but the witch hunters from Mordhiem are rather nice
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1290322&prodId=prod1120089&rootCatGameStyle=
Also worth searching ebay for the talisman witch hunter as he is a very nice figure but does sell for quite alot.

If you like i can do some comparison shots later tonight.

I forgot I have the Black Cat Bases one.

I think we are gunna shy away from the Africa stories, and stick to the Old World stuff...

They're the Griffin army Demon hunters - which now come in a six-pack of pre-painted minis:

I'm a big fan of the Warhammer Quest Witch Hunter model.  I couldn't find a great shot - it's the one on the far left of this shot:

When they turn up could you let us know how they mix in with 28mm figs?

And stop posting links to figures I HAVE TO BUY!

A couple of weapon swaps would make a halfway decent Kane mini.  The Hammer could be converted into the fetish staff, or perhaps a rifle.  The sword needs to be replaced with a rapier or a saber, that would be the simpler of the two.  Trimming down the basket hilt and replacing the blade with a blunted pin.

Here's a guy from Reaper.  More Witch Hunter than Kane though.

The Warhammer Witch Hunter model is a really great piece, I painted one up that I paid a small fortune for on EBAY. I really need to figger out how to post photos. :? The truest looking Kane I think is still Doc Twilights.

What about the Boothill James Butler Bonham figure? No sword but looks the part to me. At the least he could be a well-armed henchman.

Its on the Black Army Productions website, under their Champions of History line, It's called Abel, Puritan Witch Hunter or something similar, it's been posted on these boards, I have one in the middle of being painted, it's a very nice little sculpt. I have, so far, been dissapointed with only one of Docs minis and I think his company does great work.

Found it, thanks!  A neat sculpt - I wish there were more shots of it from different angles.  There are some really nice miniatures in that Champions of History line - I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of the lines later.

No problem! The mini is actually better than the picture would have you believe, once you get it in hand its nice and detailed!

Some appealing minis there, but the look is mostly inspired by the Salem witch trials (1690s) and Witchfinder General (1640s).  If you want to be pedantic, Kane was a lot earlier than that: Howard had him sailing with Drake as early as 1578.  So maybe it's worth having a look at the Foundry Swashbucklers and Vendel Border Reivers too?

(Here's a post from my blog about comics, which discusses the evolution of Solomon Kane's appearance:

Agreed, we need more angles.   o_o

Love the Tesla figure they've got too.
