Title: Painted: UNIT Troops for Salute 2010 - NOW with added Frogmen!
Post by: uti long smile on 20 February 2010, 02:30:07 PM
I needed some more UNIT troops for the Salute game. Terrified of the usual Black Tree delays, I bought these off Mark Dixon of ArtWho9 and commissioned him to match the rest of what my squads.

Painting services were supplied by Matt Brown (not Smith) who is now doing tabletop work for artwho9. He's done a cracking job IMHO and they fit in perfectly with my older stuff - and they arrived just in time for tomorrow's playtest!

nice drabs... but you know they are some god awful minis... the two UNIT troopers from the single figure range are shocking... the UNIT patrol set has some better figures, but dodgy heads and ears...

I cut a bristle from my toothbrush for the ariel on the radio man...

and then sold my BTD UNIT stuff to use Mo-Fo instead...

Cracking stuff but I've got to agree about the sculpts - I'm in a similar position - loads of BTD Unit I got cheap of ebay and haven't the will yet to go Mofo!

Mind you the prices Dr Who stuff goes for there could provide some motivation and hopefully fund the endeavour...

and that's nowt compared to the painted stuff.  :o

Frogmen are very cool - love the diving masks!

when reaper brought out those frogmen I though what the hell does anyone want those for, what  waste of mold space and sculting time. Now I see why. Very nice work!  :o

Nice frogmen.  :)

Where did the rubber boat come from?  that looks like it could be useful for all kinds of games.

That's the wonder of Doctor Who gaming, you can take just about any miniatures, futuristic, modern or historical and find a place for them in a game.  :)

Cheers guys - we used some of Ross's Mofo guys as reinforcements today.

A stonking victory in today's playtest for UNIT\Paul & Ross - although Hayden and I were hampered by not having a tactical bone between us!

Cheers, I seem to be growing quite a long shopping list of Eureka stuff lately.

I've a few bits of there's - they sometime scome up more 25mm than 28 - but there's still some very nice stuff.

Also available from Fighting 15s here in the UK.

Loving the Reaper Frogmen! The three work very well together despite being the same sculpt. Reminds me of my old Imperial Army figures for Rogue Trader - lots of duplicate poses, but they looked great together. ;D
