There ought to be some kind of consolation prize, like a bowl of soup if you have to go up against Captain Blood... ::)

Sorry Uncle - luck of the draw  :(

I do assure you, looking through the other entries this morning, there are more than enough participants capable of giving me a bloody nose. I will get my comeuppance at some point, that's for sure.

Nice buttocks, Captain Blood!

Heh heh heh... I've been studying Michi's style  ;)

 :D

I like both entries, Uncle Mike's composition and diorama quality is great. But this very smooth blending of skin tones on Captain's barbarians ... Excellent!

Aye, I think UM is getting his nose ground a little to hard here. I like the minis and the 70ies movie poster quality of the entry. I was messing about with something similar for my own entry but in the end thought the image had become too busy and I reverted back to a plain shot sans closeups and Comic Life doodahs.

Big time.  Both entries are great and the diorama type setting swung me in favour of the second entry over the (IMO, obviously) technical superiority of the Captains well defined buttocks...

Although while they are not in shot, I am sure that Uncle Mikes buttocks are nothing to be sniffed at (Ill get my coat...)

Wow, Mike's taking a Kicking here, so I voted for him.  Plus well, I might be allowed over at his place if I didn't. :)

Stunnig stuff, some your best Captain in my humble opinion. ;D

Thanks Nick  :)

I can never hear 'but-tocks' without hearing Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump...   ;)

Wolfslord - three they are from the ex-Grenadier Copplestone-sculpted barbarians range now available through EM4 and others I think. The girlie is a Reaper figure - some kind of swamp witch or shamaness or somesuch... The young guy with the bow is a Copplestone caveman from his High Adventure range.

Excellent stuff Richard. Lovely skin tones and a great photo.

Uncle Mike
You have some very nice painted figureS it is just a shame you came up against the Captain. In many of the other matches you would have won hands down

Yep. It's pretty straightforward really. On these it was:

Black undercoat
Base coat: 50:50 mix of Vallejo Red Leather and Vallejo Dark Flesh
Mid coat: Add Vallejo Ivory to the above mix to taste.
Top coat: Add a bit more Ivory
Final highlight: Add a bit of white to the mix for knuckles, ankle bones, nose tips etc.

Thanks, Cap'. I'm slowly becoming reconciled to Vallejo... What about the hair?

Oh yes, sorry Michael - missed that :)

It's just black (cheap and cheerful Palmier Prism - ex-Inscribe in the UK - hobby acrylic 'Raven'), with highlights using a bit of Vallejo 053 Dark Blue and a bit of white mixed in.

So by the time you get to the tips of the hair, it's actually almost a very light grey-blue, but somehow the eye is fooled into thinking it's black!

This is now my standard recipe for black hair - actually, it means painting figures with effectively blue hair, but it's the best way I've found of doing it, although I'm sure others have better ways  :)

I mix a bit of VMC 180 Gunmetal blue into my negro hair, to give it that slightly metallic sheen.

Thanks again, Cap'. I've been wanting to experiment with blue highlights for my black hair, my grey highlights just make the hair look grey.

Both have nice qualities but I strongly favour In Cimmeria. The set-up of the second looks too much like a diorama which detracted a little from the focus on the models for me.

That aside, In Cimmeria wins on strength of the flesh painting, yet both are great sets of mins.

Not bad, Capt'n!

I gave you a "sympathy vote" due to the nice bum.
