Max allowed size is 800 by 800 pixs. It is wasteful not to use this in at least one dimension. :)

Yes. Oddly enough, I just checked the photo saved on my PC, and that is 800x337, which means that it has resized when I attached it to the email...very strange...

It’s a Windows standard feature when you’re going to send it from Windows Explorer via “Send it to an email recipient”. I would recommend attaching it to an email from your email client.
Btw, the email I’ve got already had this width of 600px, I’ve not changed anything.

Also, if you're using hotmail it automatically resizes photos so if you want the dimensions to stay unchanged you need to attach it as a data file rather than as an image file.
