Title: Black Hat Haggis
Post by: AndrewBeasley on 26 February 2010, 10:47:37 PM
As my first showing here of my basic painting skills I have painted up a set of Haggis for Song of Blades.  The full story of the breeds is on my blog at www.blog.kings-sleep.me.uk (http://www.blog.kings-sleep.me.uk) but here are the pictures:

Think I need to tidy the bases and the eyes a little more!

This any help? (What the devil am I looking at btw??)

Click on insert image, or just type [img]picture location [url/], or start using Photobucket, then you only need to copy 1 section and paste it in your topic and you are done.

This any help?
The only difference I can see is the size element:
I'll edit and try again...

No good so I've put a note on the help board - maybe its my account?

The figures are supposed to be wild Haggis that act a dwarf support in fantasy games.

Ignore the size element, thats a auto feature of the forum and only shows up after posting or preview.

[img] and [img/] is all you need (and of course a image location adress wherever on the net to fit in between)

Those are either furry squigs or (hopefully) mean tempered relative of cooky monster from Sesame Street or the Muppets. Either way, they're fine with me.

If you use the quote option you will see I only have the img tags (I used the edit icon and then pasted the URL in them...

Best thing maybe just to go to the blog for now to see the background story...

Correct me if I'm wrong but you're using Picasa to post? I have had the exact same problem recently with Picasa posts. They just upgraded their software recently and I wonder if it's related.

I find that with Picasa that if you do the editing there then export to, for instance windows media and then upload to photobucket you should have no problems.

Here's a step guide;

Photo in Picasa

Export...say windows media

Upload to Photobucket

And off to the LAF,no problems ;)

I love them!

In Wessex Games' Panzerfauste game, the Highland Orc units can be supported by Tame Haggis, exactly like these!
They act in a similar way to Goblin Fanatics in Warhammer Fantasy. They pop out of the unit when the unit get's quite close to an enemy and rip the opponent to shreds (usually). Even if they don't, theres normally 8 or so big, mean, highland orcs with claymores to come after them! ;D

Those are "tame" Haggis?!? :o I shudder to think what havoc a feral Haggis will wreak! ;) lol

Rather charming little figures, and nicely unusual. The glowing psycho eyes are a nice touch.

You have several colors. I wonder if any LAFers have escaped from Scotland and seen a real haggis. Perhaps they could tell us what color a haggis is.

Great stuff - those eyes are seriously disturbing!  :o

I thought Haggis had one leg longer than the other - something to do with mating habits...

Not widely believed to be true supposedly.

According to my Wiki research earlier, Haggis have one side of legs shorter than the other so they run in circles (around mountains). However, they can only run one direction.
Their mating habits are about the inability to mount those with one side longer than their shorter side. So the gene becomes stronger and stronger.

I think it is the perfect fantasy creature for a fantasy Scotch army!  lol

Edit: Anyone considered them for a WWW2 highlanders unit?  :D

Ah now I heard that male haggis had one leg shorter and the females had the other leg shorter, which meant they ran round the tops of mountains in opposite directions and were consequently bound to bump into one another sooner or later!

Definitely make a nice change of mascot from the usual goat or ram!!
