That's nice. What the heck is it? I mean, obviously it's a half-track of some kind, but when does it date from? What was it used for?

look:

-
French, Inter-war, and for lugging around Asia, right? Or at least that's how I've seen them.
It's a beaut.

Nice model, who is it made by?

Cool! Do you you know the books about these expeditions: Expedition Afrika (http://www.amazon.de/Expedition-Afrika-1924-Ariane-Audouin-Dubreuil/dp/3894054859/ref=sr_1_9/028-7036722-7110931?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1179331971&sr=8-9) and Expedition Seidenstrasse (http://www.amazon.de/Expedition-Seidenstrasse-Ariane-Audouin-Dubreuil/dp/389405624X/ref=sr_1_1/028-7036722-7110931?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1179332402&sr=1-1)? I only know the one about Africa. Great photos in there...

Sahara, eh? Ralph Fiennes could have done with one of those on his little jaunt. It's really cute. Cuter than Kristin Scott Thomas, anyway.

These 1/43 models are made in China by Universal Hobbies for Editions Atlas in France and sold along with a magazine called Passion Citroën which comes out every 2 weeks or so.
It is a 1922 Citroen-Kégresse P4, used in the first automobile crossing of the Sahara. Other expeditions include the Croisière Noire (1928, lit. The Black Cruise) which set off in Algeria and arrived in Madagascar and the Croisière Jaune (1931-32, lit. The Yellow Cruise) from Beyrouth to Beijing. There was also a Croisière Blanche (1934) in Northwest Canada.
Passion Citroën also released a 1931 P17 Citroën-Kégresse used for the Croisière Jaune:

They are completely out of scale as you can see on the following photos but I reckon it's allright for pulp. B company and Sloppy Jallopy have been talking about making some in proper 28mm scale.

moved it to Pulp board

got another "opened" version of the car, a bit too large, though nice one to convert etc.

On the "too big" issue, I´ve found that adding driver and/or passenger figures helps very much in disguising scale differences. Of course, finding a LE driver might prove difficult - maybe convert a machine gunner?
-
have to look for my drivers, unfortunately doesnt have too many and have no idea where they are

As I've said in another thread (http://forum.backofbeyond.de/viewtopic.php?t=1623), it is way too big for a P17 Kégresse but it could pass for a fictional large hafltrack in the SdKfz.7 class.

That gives me an idea: what about the inverse? Surely with some work a (medium or large sized) 1/72 WWII halftrack could be converted to a fictional (smaller) Kegresse for 28mm. Plenty of plastic kits around...

Sure, i'm not sad about out-of-scale , there are too many possibilities to convert 8)
btw...I heard yesterday that a company out there is going to make that Citroen halftrack in 28mm....
-
Yep. Brent of Company B is apparently working on one and Sloppy Jalopy are supposed to make one in the future (though they have been saying this for about a year now). So whether you think 1/56 or 1/48 is the proper scale for 28mm, there should be some choice.
-
Greetings,
has anyone an idea where one *could* perhaps find a similar autochenille? I suppose sloppy jalopy won't be interested. :?
I remember seeing a tv series about the yellow cruise ten years back. There was that amazing scene where the group had been ambushed. They retreated into a cavern and got rescued very specially. They had a film projector and one of those first movies without sound. So when the ambushers rushed the cavern...they found themselves in front of some "cavalry charge", a movie featuring native americans (indians) and soldiers. It was hilarious but a great series. I wonder if I can get a copy at amazon.fr

A French company called Sibur do produce a 1/50 scale Autochinelle (about 2/3 down the page):
http://genieminiature.com/Citroen%20camions.htm
or for an idea of the models available:
http://www.citroenmodelcars.nl/html/sportcroisieres.htm
At the end of the day it all depends on your modelling skills and availability of scale plans. For me I would rather opt for a 1/43 version as this would fit well with all the other suitable 1/43 scale vehicles out there; would be quick and easy to get hold of; and at the same time accepting the scale differences. If you need one for the game, you need one.
In addition I would find it unlikely that I would need an Sdkfz 7, although if I did I could always fork out the vast sums of cash Corgi charge for theirs...

wow, awesome vehicles there, especially that one is nice

all their Autochinelle conversions are great, too, some nice ideas there, would need that trailer

Whoa! Lot's of good ideas here....
Without revealing too much..I can definately say that I will be very busy the next two weeks, mastering the next round of 1920's era vehicles.
Yes, I am making some halftracks....note the plural use of the word.
We have more versions of the model T's on the way. Including one very menacing armored car.
We have the RCW Model T armored Pickup and rear gunner (for the Russian Civil War) going to casting tomorrow! Alex posted a picture of it in another thread.
I guess my question would be..if you had a choice on the Halftracks...which one would you want to be released first? And saying both won't cut it. My wallet is not that big.
