Title: The Glorious Dead on Atlantis
Post by: Malamute on 02 March 2010, 02:02:21 PM
Or perhaps not.... Given the recent conversations in the various Atlantis threads about the fate of hero/personality figures who have been killed off in the various battles and their possible return here is my list of fallen heroes. Their fate hangs in the balance...

Lt AA Milne RN. Missing in action, (Believed dead after a raid by Japanese troops on a Royal Geographical Society camp.)

Allan Quatermain. Missing in action. (last seen locked in hand to hand combat with strange Automatons atop a Pyramid on an island to the south of Atlantis. His body was not recovered after the action)

Admiral, The Lord Ivor Mough D'Ivor. Missing in action (Last seen singly handedly  holding off a large horde of Atlantean natives during the fight on the same island. His body was also not found after the battle.)

Anyone playing games in the Atlantis campaign who also want to see what fate has in store for their fallen characters add them to this thread. You never know they may live again. :)

Lt Commander Dan D Lyons put down by some Japanese coming to the rescue of the force commander. Rescued by his naval infantry platoon and taken back to the hospital ship. Awaiting a diagnosis of his injuries :D

We have just had news back from the doctors and it appears Lt Commander Lyons has had some severe injuries and will need to spend some time recuperating but is expected to make a full recovery.

Major MacThegrassgrow has recommended that the Lt Commander get a mention in dispatches and be promoted to Commander on his recovery. This still has to be confirmed by the Admiralty.

Captain Mainwairing last seen as his Aeronef Ship HMS Exeter hit the sea off of Atlantis whilst fighting cowardly Prussian's.

Ship's were deployed to search for wreckage but due to hostile fleets in the area a proper search is nearly impossible.

There should be some suitable Mahler track playing here.

EDIT: and you VSF lot should *really* slap together a 28mm grotesque Victorian memorial of the occasion...

I have offered malamute the opportunity to build a 28mm Westminster Cathedral, so Mr Quatermain can have a full State Funeral. Of course as soon as I'd suggested it as a joke, I actually started wishing he would...  lol

Reports of Rudi von Bismark's death on the battlefield appear to have been a little premature.

Whilst he did indeed go down under a hail of blows from native Atlanteans, it seems that attack merely broke a few bones and rendered him unconsious. In their hurry to inflict more casualties, the undisciplined locals presumed him dead and moved on to fresh targets.

The timley intevention of other Prussian Officers (on leave) lead by Bismark's ADC Willie Gofharr, ensured that RvB was evacuated back to the safety of the Khosindan forward camp.

I visited Gettysburg a few years ago. The memorials the various states have raised there look very weird in the landscape.

Further news of the glorious imperial forces on Atlantis has been received.
The close combat and quick first aid skills of General Zui’e saved Dr Fu Manchu from serious injury and he is now fit to resume his mysterious role.
Sue Fla Zui’e has also appeared back after the disastrous raid on a British supply depot but she has appeared back on her own with the report of the loss of all of her force.
She personally seen the demise of the Special forces unit but she is unclear as to what happened to Od Wok and Peter Wee. When the full Chinese forces arrive on the island in a few weeks time, a further search of the area will be carried out.

In a striking departure from the trend, Lord Robert Delabrough was NOT actually broken by a pair of raveningly betentacled crawling hands in the most recent engagement.

Belated news that, in October, famous British hunter and explorer Allan Quatermain fell victim to the sword  blows of Japanese ronin impervious suits whilst helping to defend a convoy of British and American explorers. It is believed the Quatermain survived and is now a 'guest' of Imperial Japan.

More recently, Ensign Abner Ravenwood of the United States Marines, whilst detached to command Atlantean scouts,  succummed to blows in viscous hand-to-hand combat against European mercenaries fighting for the Koshindan pirates. Ensign Ravenwood has been returned to the United States to recover, where he will almost certainly be invalided out of the marines. It is rumoured that, as a result of his dealings with Miskatonic University expedition on Atlantis, he intends to take up a career in archaeology once he had recovered. His doctors are reported to have stated that he needs a warm, dry climate in which to recover ....
