"The Savage Wars of Peace: America's little wars" by Max Boot.
A great chapter on the US forces and involvement during the RCW, aptly titled "Blood in the Snow". With details about one battle at a train depot, that would certainly be a good scenario for the likes of you guys. ;)
And, a delightful recap of our colonialnvolvements in the Pacific, Africa, Asia and South/Central Americas.
Scenarios abound. I challenge anyone to read it without at least perusing Brigade's site and looking at their 28mm Banana Wars ranges. I loaded up on Haitian zombies, Sandanistas and marines aftger reading it. :D
Anyway, a freindly reminder. I don't see a lot of US units in your games, so I thought maybe want of research material could be a culprit, so here you go. ;)
The book really is lively and entertaining. "Queen Victoria's Little wars" for America, is the best way to describe it. (Though the chapter on Vietnam is not really too funny :? )
Used at Amazon from $3.73! That's like two quid! ;)

I am sure our very own 'Texas Ted Houston', hero of Port Arthur and a dozen other thrilling adventures, would take serious issue with you. I can post his profile if you are interested?

Well, of course I want to see his profile and game reports!!!!!!
:)
All of Farwell's books are inspiring. "Armies of the Raj, The Ghurkas, Eminent Victoprian Soldiers, Great War in Africa, Stonewall Jackson", great stuff!

TEXAS TED - HIS CHARACTER
"You are Colonel Edward Moses Houston, known as ‘Texas Ted’ to one and all.
Your family is one of Texas royalty, going back to the 18th century when the two branches of the Houston family, the Ulster Scots and the Houston Scots, acquired 100,000 acres of prime Texas grazing (i.e. dust). The discovery of oil on your land in the mid 19th century has however made yours one of the wealthiest families in the world. The family line includes one US president (Sam Houston), and many warriors who have served their country patriotically over the centuries. Yours is a frontier spirit, yours is a hard, unforgiving tradition, and now you find yourself on the other side of the world with more un-american sons of bitches than you could ever have imagined. Apart from being a complete redneck, you are also a fervent hater of all things communist. Therefore your country’s current ‘liberal’ approach to the Bolshevik problem causes you a lotta mighty problems. You would much rather invade the entire godless Eurasian landmass and return them all to be good god fearing Presbyterian folk. Either way you are ready for a fight.
You are therefore a god fearing, hard drinking brawler in the finest Texas tradition"
Well, you did ask.........

LOL! I love it!
But: "...and now you find yourself on the other side of the world with more un-american sons of bitches than you could ever have imagined."
Maybe it should be: "....and now you find yourself on the other side of the world with more un-american sons of bitches than you can shake a stick at.!"
(That's more like how we (rednecks) would say it). :D

Understood..........
