and what would you use?
-
Plastic aquarium plants and freebie cd's as bases. Works for me :D
-
Charity shops (unlikely), jumble sales (even more unlikely), car boot sales.
Pound shops etc. You sometimes get bits of artificial foliage in home decor depts. We found a sort of "door curtain" type affair with lots of strings of hanging leaves/vines that took to bits easily.
-
I got a bunch from pound shops but my best source was "The Range" in their aquarium section. Plenty of plants at a reasonable price.
-
If you have any of the larger pet shop chains, or decent garden centres which offer supplies for pets etc, you might be able to find some. Otherwise, there are some cheap online sellers, eg:

I've got a fair bit of stuff from Battlefield Architect on Ebay. They are in these pics (plus some bits from Grimm too).

I made my own from aquarium plants, I found getting them from America was cheaper than buying from my local Pet City, even with the postage.

Here's my jungle vegitation made from plastic flower pieces / arrangements. They always seem to be 40% off at the local larger craft stores.

Also Palm Trees from Bake shop supplier

I have articles in my Terrain Making section on how I assembled them.

Overlord made some cool ones with CD bases, wall filler and some plants from Hobbycraft I believe...
Sold a bunch of them at our show some years back.

Poundworld (not Poundland) is selling a range of plastic potted plants at the minute, which are great for jungle scenery. You get a lot of greenery for your Pound, even better value than aquarium plants.
-
I used flower shop plastic plants, I spent $22aus on them, stuck them onto polystrene bases for a one off game and made them all in one night.

Don't say that, you'll end up with someone doing a James May and creating a 2,000 square fot jungle made out of plasticine.
-
On a coincidental note, I went to petsmart and picked up some aquarium plants (Cost me $7.77, which is the Surcharge of the beast), and then my Mother in-law gave me enough plastic vegetation (she does fairly impressive interior decorating and had leftovers) to make more jungle terrain than I'll ever need.
This week's project, which will distract me nicely from my LPL painting, will be to make jungle.

Plastic aquarium plant are good. But too many makes your jungle look too... well... plastic! Throw in some silk-type plants to take the gleaning glisten off it a bit. Silk leaves can be trimmed and shaped to look just about like any type of plant you want.
-
Matt spray finish takes care of most of the "to shinny" look.
-
uti long smile where did you get the Not-Predators from?
-
Those are Copplestone Castings Hunter Aliens, Charles. ;)

Here's my jungle terrain + a small WIP. They are also made out of plastic plants and bits and pieces from a floralshop.
Hope you enjoy it!

Greets,

Lovely jungle, Belgian :-* It's great how gamers can take the same basic ingredients and make such individualistic terrain.
I'm hoping it's modelled on the Congo rain forest ;)
-
Nice to hear you love the junglepieces!
Greets,

Nice work Nelgian - interesting blogsite too.
Have you got anywhere with your Mamayev Kurgan or grain elevator ?

Might have to look for them on Monday.

Figures, I've been through the Copplestone site a million times but never really look at their "Non-Human" selection.
-
You must really try to build some jungle terrain! They would look awesome in a jungly environment. jungle terrain isn't so expensive to make all my junglepieces, I bought maybe for 15 euros of aquariumplants (enought to fill a big plastic storagebox!) + the already made 40 junglestands.
But I've got some old jungle terrainpieces based on old cd's nothing special but if your interested, pb me. ::)
Greets,
