Argh! Four weeks, and only two entries so far... :-[ I'm definitely slacking.
Those Jaffa figures are pretty cool - I like the terrain base with the control panel on it, too.
-
The DHD is from Phoenix miniatures as well, came in a set with the Stargate itself. Not sure if they are available anymore though, perhaps thorugh ebay or such.
-
my first thought was: Oranges? Painted orange?? lol
-
I voted for the Jaffa, but it was close for me. The colour choices turned me off the CSM stuff.
The Jaffa bases really needed more complete finishing (ie covering the gaps).
Nonetheless, well done to both entrants in their entries.

Color choices? Care to be more specific? I'm always interested in hearing tips to improve my game!

Can't speak for someone else but what I think he means is that your Marines have this "cartoony" look to them, mainly colourwise.
Nothing wrong with that, it's just a personal style or choice!
I've had things look like cartoons too and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
In this case Chaos Marines are often associated with grim and darkness and maybe that is why Leonmallet made the comment about the colours...
You shouldn't really change the way you paint, that's pretty good. I think this is only a case of ones preference to anothers!

Northstar got it right - it wasn't the technical side of the painting, but I associate darker tones on the whole with Chaos/CSM, and with Plague Marines more 'muddied' rather than bright greens. It is just personal taste. Those same colours would work well in other places, so it probbaly isn't about your own improvement, just subjective preference.
There is no 'right' palette except the one you are happy with. For other viewers, we have our own version of right, but that should not matter as long as you are satisfied.
Nonethless kudos in entering - doing so is some achivement and the minis are nice. :)

OK, fair enough. Thanks, guys.
