Hi people, I'd like to share one of our recent strictly un-themed and surrealistic battles; here the Alai-toc craftworld manages to stop the red wave of my www2 Soviet army. Hope you like it.

Great terrain! The first picture is really great.
-
I'll second Cheetor, the terrain looks good.
Damn the Eldar and their religious fanaticism - don't they understand that Socialism is the only way forward? ;D
-
Looks fun, and as you say, quite surreal! Great terrain you have there.
What rule-set did you use? I'm a big fan of the idea that rules are just a mechanical way of expressing relationships... in 40k an Imperial Guard lasgun could equally well be an AK47 or a musket, depending on the setting; it makes it very easy to get your head around different 'themes' of armies meeting up. So I'm always interested to know how others do it too.

Thanks a lot. Showing our the terrain was indeed the aim of the pics, but then the fight started and...
Abut the ruleset we just tried out anything non specific, going thru Chain Reaction, to the Ganesha stuff, Crossfire and so on. At the end we ended up writing our own system that looks a bit like the Gurps of 3d wargameing. So every mini has stats and perks and let's go.
I think this has become a major need in wargameing: we have a lot of miniatures, we want to use them all with no rules change. See what's done Matakishi with his extensive use of Crossfire!

I really like the paintjob on those Rackham containers. My favourite are the cracks in the roads, though. Any hints on how you did them would be greatly appreciated.

Of course: it's a 3mm thick cork tile, it comes naturally textured (sort of "nature" look). Then I've simply torn it into large pieces and re-composed it with pva glue over a 60x60cm MDF board. Six of those squares would cover a 180x120 table. In the pics we used the river, so only 3 road tiles were used. Thanx for the interest.

Must have been a fun game! I especially love the picture of the Swooping Hawks mobbing that Sov walker. Did they kill it, or did it swat them down like the capitalist flying-dogs they are?
The terrain's really impressive too. I'm officially jealous. :)

Thank you!
Those aristocratic enemies of the People did manage to cut through our Kolossus - that beauty is the pride of collectivist engineering - with their capitalistic Exarch Blades. All in all it's been a fun and tight game, with the pointed ears winning on the last turn by one model.

Wow, fantastic scenery. Had to take another look to make sure you weren't playing outside.

Gentlemen,
I posted a new Jar war episode on the swashbuckling forum, if you fancy, take a look:
