This should generate some interest:
http://hinterlandminiatures.weebly.com/ (http://hinterlandminiatures.weebly.com/)
I'd like to see mounted versions, though.
-
I'm ordering! I've found my Princess/Queen Wilhelmina for my Dutch! Awesome minis.
-
Thanks for posting this news, Tommy20.
I'd like there to be mounted versions as well, but the cost...whew! :o If things go well, perhaps sometime in the future.
-
Has that company anything to do with the LAF. I am sure that girls picture was discussed on a thread here.
Looks like an interesting company. Not sure if I can think of an idea to include them in one of my armies though (Well at the moment anyway ;))
I think I will keep an eye on this company to see what comes out next
OK I am am daft.
just found this

Make sure to remove the deaths head insignia tough. She could pass for the young Wilhelmina but there is only a small part of the Victorian era in which she actual ruled, most part of that era was done by her mother as Wilhelmina (known to me as a queen mother) was still under age.
-
She's a must have. :-*
-
They are certainly must haves.
Private guard for Victoria herself! :D
*OR! Suffragette (ist?) anarchists!!! ;D
-
I like those! Just what a mad central European scientist would need to guard his remote mountain-top laboratory. As the others say - absolutely wonderful figures, but I don't quite know how they would be able to mount a horse in those skirts :?
Ah, I should have guessed from such lovely figures - sculpted by the unnaturally proficient and prolific Mr Hicks ::)
lol
-
Nice i like those i wish more companies would do stuff for the Japanese though..
I think i'm going to ahve to borrow some Chinese stuff for Mad Scientists and such oddities..

I love these. I don't need to worry about how they get themselves on to the horse, but once there they would probably look a bit like this

Very nice!
I need some!
but I wish they were available in Europe!
-
They are. I'm in Europe and I've ordered Princess Vicky, for the grand total of Seven American dollars.

Yes Plynkes you are right, but...
My comment was not meant aginst any US, Canadian or europeans, but against local authorities. Those fellahs in our customs are scrutinising every small packet, charging enormous costs, delaying deliveries and so on. Since we are not living in a country with well organised services like yours, it is better to sell one kid and not get involved with those services !!! [sorry, I will not enter to conversation on the above statement, since this is the most polite thing I can write], plus I do not have any contact with paypal and I wish not get involved with them!
Buying form Europe elliminates every difficulty.

Fair enough and hopefully there will be some mounted ones appearing soon.
As to the pic, I thought women still do hold the whip hand. Well, they do in my house :(
lol

Argsilverson, yes I see what you mean. I have had similar troubles myself that have curtailed my purchasing from outside the EU, but in the UK at least one little princess isn't enough to bring down the wrath of the rapacious revenue men on to my head. It's only when the orders get up into the £30 bracket that things start getting expensive here.
I sympathise with your problem.
-
yes Plynkes,
We live in different worlds!

£18 or over will get you a tiny VAT bill and a very unfriendly handling charge. Twice this month for Svennn >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
-
As low as £18 now? I thought it was thirty-something. Fucking hell. No more Brigade Games stuff for me, then. :(
-
Great figures - not sure that I knew I needed some before today. lol

£18 for purchases from a business and £32(?) for purchases from private individuals which are marked as "Gift".
I have found it in recent months easier/cheaper to receive multiple packages from the US (including the multiple S&H costs) to avoid the !"£$%^ handling fee.
-
That's bloody mental.
Really is, especially for something like this. It's not like we're taking advantage of cheaper goods or anything. :(
-

But this is VSF! ;) And I won't be removing the death's head. It's too cool.

Those Hussars are great, will order some.......And on the subject of various costs associated with mail order; In Australia where one must order everything >:( ,I believe we do rather well. For instance ordered a box of SF3d 1/35 (I seem to remember someone on the forum selling them) ,I got 27 of the things for $48 Aust.,$36 dollars postage (ems) ordered on Thursday ,got them on Tuesday. Or if ordering from say Hasslefree (hello Sally)pay standard airmail rate,Sally always seems to upgrade me , get the order within 10 days,no handling fees, vat or GST. zilch. So far no dramas with anyone,Europe,America etcetera.

Mancha - please note, for UK orders! :) ;)
Duly noted. The problem is it's hard to go to the post office day after day and hand the the employee there ten packages, all marked "gift". Granted, US postal employees aren't responsible for ensuring that the UK Government can collect its VAT, but I imagine there's some law on our end about being truthful in customs claims.
That said, I haven't been entirely truthful in customs claims. ;)

Oh, we are all... lol
-
Hurray!
My set arrived this morning.
12 miniatures from the US to the UK for $34 including postage (£22-something) in 8 days.
The Princess, Firing Line and Unit Builder packs.
Very happy. Lovely miniatures, cleanly cast.
Postie just popped them through the letterbox as well, so no tax or handling charge to pay! :D
Can't wait to paint them, and I've just ordered a 2nd set.
The only downside is I'm not sure my painting skills can do them justice, lol.
Thanks Mancha.
-
Lucky git! Well done for foiling HMC&R!
lol
I'd love to see some painted, no matter how you think your painting is.
Twelve for £22.00 is a real bargain. Even better if we ever get back to a decent exchange rate with the dollar ;D
-
Oh, they're definitely going to the front of the painting queue, and I will post them when they're done, though I'm not fast, lol.
Great little unit, quite unique. Mr Hicks has done a lovely job. Good mix of poses.
I like them loads.
Now, I only have to decide on colours. As its definitely VSF I've got lots of options.
-
Hopefully that means mine will be with me soon. Can't wait!
Mors
-
Right, I'm gonna order mine soon! :D

I could wrap up the minis in a lingerie catalog, or would that just make it worse? :)
-
I'm not going to answer that question! lol

At least she's just the girlfriend, wait till you have a wife checking each package of "nice little toy soldiers" followed by "so now what are you getting me?" Enjoy your freedom while you have it.
Ps if/when you get married have lots of boys then you get years of "honesty Love I'm just building up our son's army." She see's right though it but it helps.
-
No, she checks every package!
However, she has just started painting up some of Eureka's Teddy Bear cowboys and spent 30 quid on buildings for them! lol
-
I have ordered mine, I don't know what I am going to do with them, but I've ordered them.
-
Ordered mine as well last night, I guess i`m gonna integrate them into my italian VSF frce I`m building as a `mercenary` unit
-
I’ve ordered mine just a few hours (or minutes…) after they were advertised in the "Bazaar of Obscurities". I’m still waiting for them because the postal service in this city is EXTREMELY slow compare to were I was living before… >:(
-

lol Exactly right! I always include a few things for myself when buying stuff for young Minimus. Happily the missus couldn't tell a Sikh from a Space Marine, so I tend to get away with it ;)
-
Mine arrived this morning, cleaned and undercoated already. Will start painting them after din din.
Lovely figures , thanks Mancha.

That was exactly my plan too but unfortunately the post box was empty again this morning :'(
-
Hey guys, I know it's kind of silly, but I really would appreciate an email heads-up when your minis arrive. I aim for 100% satisfaction, and it's a big relief when I learn that your package arrived. Otherwise I'll be sending annoying emails asking after them. ;)
I'll also be very interested to hear if anyone ran into customs problems.
-
You tease Mors, now I'll be rushing home to check the mail every night for my order. >:( :D
-
Got mine today. Very clean castings and they look as nice in person as they do in the pictures. Mounting them up now for painting, very happy with them.
-
Safely received, thanks Jason. No intervention from HM Customs & Excise.
Very nice little figures.
I am already pondering fantastical colour schemes...

You have caught me sir, like a Treen in a disabled spaceship...
LPL4 Round 10, all will be revealed >:D
Suffice to say, these little beauties are going to fit in soooooooooo perfectly with my cunning plan...
o_o
-
If I have the time, and receive the figures soon enough, they will also be a part (or even all) of my LPL 4 round 10 entry… and I got the feeling that we won’t be the only ones ;)
-
I am already pondering fantastical colour schemes...
The funny thing is, those Hussar uniforms came in some amazing colors, and that was when worn by men. The possibilities when worn by fashionable women of the Victorian Era, well, one is left speechless....

Mine will be painted pink with green spots... lol

You are Nigel Molesworth, and I claim my £5 reward...
Glad to see that you've come over to the Dark Side, and I didn't have to be boiled at all.
I am preparing myself to be stunned by what you do with them.

I must like these figures, because unlike most figures that head to the lead-pile to be pondered for an age, I've actually made a start, lol.
Just undercoated and painted a few bits so far, but still...
These are for my Prussians, but I haven't yet decided whether to go dark blue or pink, as suggested above.

I don't know, I think they look pretty good in your current black. :)
-
And sporting the deaths' head, they could be brunswickers...
Mourning Black Brunswickers? Perhaps the nation of Brunwick was destroyed by Anarchist rebels and only a handful of women survived. ;D
-
While it's entirely coincidental (it's a Prussian guard hussar uniform she's wearing rather than anything Brunswicker) Viktoria Luise was the Duchess of Brunswick (Braunschweig-Lüneburg), you know.
-
Im doing the rank and file in a rather lurid paint scheme, not sure they look German now, they may have to be a British unit, or mabbe the uniformed branch of the Godalming Ladies And Diligent Youth Society (Gladys).
I have decided to paint Viki as herself, anyone know if the facings would be silver or white? Im not sure from the posted photographs.
Rgds Mors
-
Dunno, I have a colour drawing, and everything is white on that. That may be the artist's way of representing silver, though. Trousers were dark blue, though in her photos it looks like the skirt she had matched her jacket rather than being in the trouser colour.
-
Ok , think black and white is the easiest way to go.
Thanks Mors
-
Forgot to say, the bag on the top of the busby is white too, rather than the more familiar red of British Hussars and Horse Artillery (and Mancha's painted example).
-

Or Vallejos rather attractive Pink!
-
Captain Blood used a rather attractive shade of pink on his ECW Fondling's Horse regiment here:
I'm not normally a fan of pink but this shade is very attractive and might be worth considering for the ladies.
-
I don't know, I think they look pretty good in your current black. :)
A shame you've got them earmarked for Prussia, or they could be the Queen's Own Scottish Widows.
-

Boy, I agonized over the color of that bag. I really wanted yellow because, of course, yellow is a good contrasting color with the blue of the uniform. However, I'd already done the chin strap in NMM gold (ie: yellow), and her hair was already my best attempt at blond (ie: yellow), and I didn't think I could afford any more yellow on the bag. Suckage.
My memory of the color plate in the Vanished Armies book is that the actual uniform jacket is black with white trim, and grey pants. The bag is either white or yellow.
-
Vanished Armies is my source, as well: Blue pants, black jacket, white lace, furry trim, facings, piping etc. Gold chip straps on the busby, white busby bag.

-
Obviously I meant "chin straps." I have no idea what chip straps are. :)

lol I was listening Steve, even if no-one else was!
-
All of which illustrates why I am going for a fanciful colour scheme, not a historical one! lol
Yes... Must recall the recipe for that dusky pink... ;)
-
Finished a couple of the girls
I'm no great painter, but I hope I've managed to make them look somewhat feminine. :)
The "Pink Ladies":-

What a great set. They look excellent with the Foundry Queen. And I like how feminine they look. Thanks for showing us.
-
I like em :D
-
You've done a grand job. Well done! :)
-
Smashing El Prez! I love them! Can't wait to work on mine. And I won't have to wait long because they showed up today! Beautiful minis!
-
I've just bought Princess Victoria, the Firing Line and six other Hussars for £20.17, which isn't bad when I think about what I'm normally paying for Orks or Chaos Marines.
As to what I'm going to do with them, not a bloody clue.
-
Can't wait to see everybody's take on these miniatures. Don't forget to post pictures.
@Frontal Assault - glad its not just me that buys figures and then works out a use for them, lol
-
Is it wrong that I want to see some of these nice young ladys with Maxems, and Lewis guns?
-
Is it wrong that I want to see some of these nice young ladys with Maxems, and Lewis guns?
Doesn't strike me as wrong. In fact, I do too. ;)
-
Oh and maybe a bergman sub machinegun in the mix also. :-*.
Need some to be my Imaginations 1st Capital guard Battalion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women's_Battalion
My fluff is that, my country was surprisingly progressive dearing the 19th center, and allowed (fallowing a series of Female Doge's) for the formation of All Female Carbanar units to police the capital and as the Doge's ceremonial guard. While the men in the military were used to man the border garrisons, maneuver Regiments' and to try to keep what is left of there colonial Empire alive.
-
Awkward question, and I do apologise if this is the wrong place to ask this, but has anyone who has ordered these minatures had a request for a shipping fee after the initial order has been placed?
-
From the seller? No, and I've placed 2 orders.
If you order up to 3 packs the site asks you to choose your shipping option, which adds $4 to the UK to your bill. Did you add the shipping to your shopping cart?
When I ordered, the total came to £22- something (cant remember exactly), and in your post above you said you were charged £20-17.
Were you subsequently asked for $4? If so, maybe you forgot to click to add shipping to your cart?
The site doesn't add shipping automatically.
By the way, $4 is less than it cost the seller to ship my parcels to the UK (it was $4-80 on my parcels), never mind packaging.
-

It costs more to get a couple of figures sent from an E-Bay sale within the UK >:(
Those transatlantic shipping charges are incredibly good value and make ordering these figures a really tempting prospect ;D

Hi Frontal Assault,
As Elprez pointed out, there is a shipping fee. That fee is $2 within the US, $3 to Canada, and $4 to any other location. (Also as Elprez pointed out, my cost of shipping to the UK is actually more than $4, and I'll probably soon change that fee to something more realistic.) You failed to choose one of the options on the ordering page. If you go back to that page, you see the options listed at the top of the page, with the US Flag, Canadian flag, and a globe.
By the way, I've already sent your minis. If you feel that my request for $4 is unreasonable, you can ignore it and still receive the minis.
Jason/Mancha
-
Sounds like an honest mistake. I was quite happy with the shipping fee that I was charged!
-
Just finished these this afternoon, just a spray of varnish to go. I am working on the back story of the unit , suffice to say they will be based in Surrey under the leadership of Lady Busbridge. Princess Viki I wanted to depict as herself , as I look at the photo I may just do a few minor adjustments. I think she should have a escort of Deaths Head Hussars , that and I need more troops to form a second Gaslight unit means I shall be putting another small order in . :D

Excellent paintjob Mors, and I like your choice of colour scheme(s) very much.
Very attractive models. Like you I cracked and had to order a second unit, :)
-
Phenominal Mors! I love your paint scheme. The painting is top notch too.
-
Great color combination! I'm suddenly feeling like my blue-and-blue females are underdressed! Excellent paintjobs as well. Thanks for posting the picture.
Jason
-
Got mine last week, so they're primed and next up on the painting queue after my Mantic skellies!
Lovely figures, very feminine, and I can't wait to paint them. Elprez and Mors, those are fantastic paintjobs!
And yeah, a big thanks to Jason - Really quick turnaround, and $4 postage to the UK is fantastic.
-
Thanks for the comments guys, I was not too sure about the colours at first but I think they have worked out ok in the end.
Mors
-
I got mine today. Very nice indeed.
-
I`ve decided on using mine as a sort of Irish `Fianna` mercenary regiment for my VSF Italians (they both want to whoop Queen Vicky`s ass), will be a while before I can get round to the whole regiment, but tried out the colourscheme I had in mind on the princess
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v328/the_hobbit_home/PULP/P1040234.jpg)
-
Good, classic color scheme. How'd you find such good eyes on her? I have to admit of that particular mini, it's difficult to paint eyes on her; she's all squinty-like.
-

With my patented eye painting technique: sheer luck and hoping I don`t tremble to hard lol
-
I like the colour scheme you've chosen.
Look forward to seeing the whole unit eventually.
And I agree you've done a good job painting the eyes.
-
God I want these.
Lovely colour combinations coming up. Great to see so many on people's painting desks so quickly! :)
-
These are all loking very good guys. I'm going to have to scape together some money to buy a few for myself one day :P
-
Mine came through today, after I paid the shipping cost I'd forgotten to do (I'm somewhat prone to stupud mistakes like that). Overall I'm impressed, each model looks well cast, and where delivery is concerned Jason has been considerably quicker than a few British companies I'm waiting on for orders.
As to what I'm going to do with them, well a few ideas come to mind.
I might be starting a Vostroyan guard soon and these gals would fit right in there as a veteran squad.
Similarly they wouldn't look to much out of place in a 1914 French army, sort of like a Joan of Arc regiment of volunteers fighting at the Marne.
Beyond that I'm quite tempted to do an 18th/19th century German army from one of the minor states, possibly Saxony so we might see them there.
Anyway ideas are welcome, as all the armies wouldn't look to much out of place in VSF.
-
Mine arrived safely a couple of days ago. Lovely figures, full of character. thanks Jason. :)
Not sure when they will get painted though...::)
-
Forgot to say, the bag on the top of the busby is white too, rather than the more familiar red of British Hussars and Horse Artillery (and Mancha's painted example).
I've done a google image search for Leib Hussaren and the majority of color photographs and illustrations show that the bag is red with a few that are white. ???
The black and white photos do appear to indicate that they're white.
-
Working on them right now! They are a joy to paint.
-
The black and white photos do appear to indicate that they're white.
I'm somewhat ashamed to admit this, but I've never done a search for the exact words Leib Hussaren before. I'm encountering some cool, previously unseen images. I'm especially interested in those that show WWI variations of the uniform, including what I assume are dark green and grey tunics.
Some of the black and white pictures make the bag look dark, as if some dark color; I would guess red.
-

You know, you could call your figures "Weib Hussaren." Eh? Get it? ;D

Mine arrived today.
Hopefully i will be able to post them here painted soon.
Thanks Mancha!
-
Painted up a test model yesterday, still waiting for some colours to arrive before I can finish it, but pretty happy with it. Skin needs work though.
Hopefully I'll be able to stick a picture in soon, just need to sort out a few things with photobucket. For now though I'm going to have to make do with this link:

Just sorted things out with Photobucket (I Hope) so here's the picture:
