So the date is settled!

It'll be the 26th - 28th of November in Rørkjærhallen Esbjerg.

This year we will also host a painting competition.

There will be an entry for historicals, sci/fantasy and dioramas.
A glorious golden trophy will go to the winner. (OK it may be a painted one but still.. golden).

To understand more of this check the link in the first post.

And ANYONE wishing to display anything, should already not feel afraid to get in touch and send me some pics, so I can get cracking on the homepage.

cheers!

Still no Owlbeers, though...

I hope you have lots of fun! And I also hope y'all take lots of lovely photos of your frankly barmy games, they're always very exciting to the rest of us (sadly, for me at least, I will not be coming to Danmark anytime soon).

But it's got an owl on it! It even makes you cleverer while you drink, I'll bet! lol

(Thor, you can't fool me, that's Japanese beer, and I'm more likely to go to Danmark than I am to go to Japan!)

You've *got* to let me know if you find a brand like that. I'm still like a moron since Midsummers.

Fellows, which is the nearest airport to Esbjerg, should one contemplate attending but feels disinclined to spend hours in a car?

Otherwise Billund.

What time of the day does the event start? Do I have to take the day off? When can I buy a ticket? Will there be a bar? Will there be a longboat? Should I bring my viking outfit?  lol

No one, apparently, when I check flygtorget.se. Is it one of these obscure airport used by only by the CIA to pick up suspected terrorists to be tortured in countries with a relaxed view on the Geneva convention?

It's probably one of those small obscure airports in DK (like the one at Odense) that noone wants to use, as no profit is to be made...

(Local Patriot Hat ON)
Just to let you know, Esbjerg Airport is actually thriving quite well, although almost no private flights are made anymore (you can order some private planes though, but they cost a hat and an arm). Esbjerg is one of the main airports for the entire North Sea offshore sector, I have had the pleasure of checking in out there a couple of times.
(Local Patriot Hat OFF)

Billund Airport is about 45 minutes away by car. If several of you are coming by plane and we are able to coordinate arrival times, some of us from Esbjerg are willing to pick you up (sharing the gas bill). Otherwise busses go to Esbjerg on a regular basis and often people need to go to Esbjerg, so cab-sharing is often possible.

Title: Re: Horisont II 2010
Post by: Argonor on September 10, 2010, 07:09:31 PM
Actually, I have lots of pics of games (with PAINTED minis and terrain!) from the last 6 months - I just could not get them reduced to a size that can be uploaded to here, because Vista won't let me install Photoshop, and I only recently dared start play around with GIMP (I loathe having to learn to use a new application for a purpose that I'm used to a perfectly good one for...  >:(  )

And the last couple of months have been FAR too busy almost every single hour not at work or sleeping to fiddle with pics. Most of my posts here have been made either from work, or very late in the evening after moving some stuff....

But, during the next 2 days we finally move to the new house with twice as much space as here, and in 1½ month I get access to a large garage with workshop, and a large attic (we had to allow the former owner to use it for storage for a while, it made him agree to drop the price another 25,000 DKK), so I think the hardships are worth it.

It would be great if everyone (even those already on the list) would fill out the registration form (http://www.laesbjerg.dk/horisont/tilmelding_eng.asp). Unless of course if you already registered, no need to do it twice.
This way, all your details goes directly to our bookkeeper - this results in a much less stressed bookkeeper.

I'd like to sleep in the gym , if that's possible.

Not sure legislation will allow this. The local fire department only allows sleeping in the classrooms.

However, if you don't mention it and hide under your table no-one will know... remember, sneaky ninja type hiding  ;)

Mange tak for the fantastic weekend! Perfect organisation, 24-hour food service, brilliant games, free coffee, friendly gamers, a luxury hotel suite and first snow in Danish winter-wonderland…a good start of the Jul season.  :-*

It would have been perfect if there had been a get-together in pub or restaurant at Friday or Saturday night…maybe next year? ;)

Velbekomme! ;)

Yes we should have had a meet up at a local restaurent or pub, but this years Horisont had grown rather large (which is great) and for me personally, there were so much to see and do this year! And a great start on the Jul season indeed.

But next year, I'm definately up for a pub-visit or two during Horisont! ;)

I put up a few pictures from the event as well here: http://www.powerfist.dk/forum/index.php?topic=43309.0

I go by the name Dødslagshammers over there. Found the name in a Swe-Dane dictionary as I was checking how you spell hammers in Danish.

'Dødslagshammers' looks way Heavy Metal but actually mean rubber mallet.  lol

Thanks to everyone who joined in this year - the Lords Assembly team is looking very much forward to Horisont next year.

We have to say, that we where all very (happily) surprised by the great turnout... my personal hope was 60 people with 50 being the anticipated number... 85 is slightly above this :D
And of course, getting a full page coverage in the Sunday edition of the largest news paper of the region doesn't hurt either...

As always, we would love to improve in order to make the event even more spectacular, so please give us a bit of feedback here (http://www.powerfist.dk/forum/index.php?topic=43335.0).

The get-together Friday or Saturday is duly noted.
I would suggest Friday, as i think some gamers might be caught in the unfortunate problem of "Should I go to the pup or continue playing?" Saturday. I will even try to make arrangements with a local pup if that would be desired (perhaps even part of the registration form)?

Thanks to the organisers and the presenters of this great event! You did a very good job and I recommend it to any wargammer I know. As a regular on the convention tour I think Horisont offers one of the best and complete packages (gaming, sleeping, eating) around.

I was blown away by the friendliness of all people involved (even when we stumbled into the school christmas cookies baking session - ooops, wrong building  ::)).

This year I only managed to attend on Saturday, but I will definately extending this next time.

Also glad to hear it went well. I gave up on going, as I had been struggling with a bad foot for 2 weeks, and as snow was covering the motorway about half the distance from here (I heard about several traffic jams due to accidents on the radio when going home from work Friday).

Well, maybe next year.
