I'm interested in this large warehouse building but was wondering if it's a little too modern for Victorian gaming?

I may convert it with some chimney stacks to turn it into a factory unit.
Any thoughts?

No, I;d say that's alright actually. :)
Especially with added chimneys.
-
I think it would work fine, what scale/manufacturer is it?
Must say I am very disappointed that a man of your talents is not building one to a cunning blueprint from scratch.
-
That works in my books and I can be a fussy git!
I've seen this somewhere before and now it's bugging me where.
-
Who makes it?
-
Looks good to me, especially with chimneys.
-
Old Glory me thinks (only because Malamullet just told me)
Chimneys are a must. It was amazing how much difference they made to a couple of buildings I recently made for Thundercheeks.
-
I looked at this for a 1920s game, but at over £100 I left it...............

WHOA! Bugger that!!!! :o

Brick seldom gives away a period of construction but windows are generally the tell, generally the top framing is indicative of the period.
That said, perhaps a few exterior gas lamp fixtures may add the authenticity seal of Victorian times, as well as a few 'period' appropriate set dressings, freight wagons or packing cases in particular.
Nice digs though all the same.
-
I have never quoted myself before ::)

Nice building. If you put a pitched, slate roof on it that might give it a more Victorian look.
-
Very nice though at £100 it would stay a nice building :D
Definatly fits though..
-
It's actually £117.............
PMC do a nice painted factory on EBay for £25 that would probably suit and Empress has just released a factory in their Spanish range that might do.

Oof!

Link? Doing a search for PMC factory turns up 0 items and doing a seller search for PMC gives someone in America.

A snip at 60 Euros! :(

He advertises every 3 days with new stock, so keep an eye, there are two different models.
I also found a makeover thread that gives you an idea. You can leave the chimney off or on.

Thanks for all of the feedback!
I'm REALLY tempted to get this kit ( and the wife has given the go ahead for the funds) but shelling well over £100.00 is a little off putting. I'm trying to weigh up raw materials and time taken to see if it'll be worth it.....
I am very impressed with the factory from Tabletop-World ( cheers Thunderchicken). I think it's got a real "Steampunk" feel to it and would look excellent in a Victorian Era "Post-Apocalyptic" type game. Hmmmmm..... what's the exchange rate like....?

Although a different type of building the Tabletop World one knocks spots off the OG one for me.
If it was my choice and I had those funds I would consider getting two of them and connecting them with some cast iron walkways.

Sounds like a plan..........
The OG one is absolutely huge so in the scheme of hings it's not that expensive compared to Tabletop World. I d agree that out of the two the Tabletop world one is the nicer model. Me thnks an order will be going in shortly.
It's a pity that this one is only a computer generated 3D model :

Ooh that is nice :-*
Do you have any other shots of it? Is it a 3d thing that can be spun etc.
That needs building that does
-
It's from a site for "Daz 3D" which is a 3D rendering programme.
Here's the page I found the Factory on:
http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/search/searchsub/?_m=d&sstring=steamworks&x=25&y=14
If you click on the small pics it opens up the different variations.

the building is pretty expensive...
however, it is very nice and fits around 1850 as the date of building pretty well, even in US
it is however not very complicated to build with some brick/stone-wall railway plastic sheet and windows -
Check Auhagen in Germany

I think you fine as is ,but chimneys could only improve the look, did the use of post or rails(for securing horse leads)ever see much use?
-
I liked the look of the render. So I grabbed some scrap pieces and took them into the shop.
(http://rotanddrivel.com/factory.jpg) (http://rotanddrivel.com/factory_2.jpg)
Would something like this work? The chimney is just a piece of paper rolled up but a proper brick chimney would be easy to make a mold of.

Ahuh.......
Yep, that'd work, although you need the big pipes running around the exterior too.

Hell, man. You sound so casual - "...grabbed some scrap pieces and took them into the shop..." indeed. :o
That looks awesome - what sort of "shop" are you in possession of that you can crank out masterpieces like this so casually?
-
Considering how rarely I get to say crap like that I have to take any opportunity I can. lol

You can also find spare brick chimneys from model railway companies
I've just seen some in a spare box in a shop
send me a PM if You want one
-
Uhh.... Yeh. Skrapwelder that's sort of the idea......... :o lol
That's bloody awesome mate! :-*
Shame you're the other side of the pond. I'm now back into the the realms of Airmail and import duties. I've had some nasty experiences with HM Customs really pumping up the cost making it pretty unviable importing anything too large or expensive. Now if you had UK importer.......... ;)
Thanks for the inspiration

I'm working on it. I've had some setbacks recently but I'm getting back on track.
