Inspired by Erny I thought I'd post some of my old minis. Painted ones first, then I may post unpainted ones for a look at a bit of my lead mountain - North Face only atm :D
Dark Elves - fastest paint job I ever did - these were for the Frothers Salute game a few years back.
Mengil's Marauders, painted at 3.30am in about 2 hours :D I'd like to finish these someday - well the whole army really.
Some Cold One cavalry, Marauder Cold ones behind.
Dwarves now
20 more to do...
Marauder Ironbreakers led by da Baron! I need a few more of these shields if anyone has any ;D
(http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o251/smbchead/DSC00248.jpg)
20 warriors led by King Gorrin
(http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o251/smbchead/DSC00245.jpg)
Orcs
I've actually done 25 of these now - 35 more archers to go :o
(http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o251/smbchead/DSC00402.jpg)
Snortas 5 done, 5 to do. Then there's 12 gruntas...
Boss Hawg :)

A few mercenaries

Lovely stuff - particularly liking those snortas!
The dwarf pikemen remind me of a dwarf army painted by Wayne England that featured in White Dwarf many moons ago - do like the marauder pike dwarves... 'cos they come with their own skewers! lol
Keep getting tempted by the old Dark Elves - must resist....
-
Super stuff very impressed.
I wavered on the whole blue skin thing for my own Dark Elves but went conservative in the end. Looks great though.
The dwarfs rock and the orcs are awesome! Looking forward to the next installment.
-
Nice work young Hetz me lad :-*
-
Awesome stuff! What's that ogre monstrosity with the teeth galore? I like him! =) Horrible proportions with the sword, but he's got a face you just got to love! =D
-
Cheers :D Hopefully I will keep painting, been flagging a bit this weekend after wrecking an ace mini :'(

Big Daft Ballugathon from Foundry. I call him the Big Daft Bellend cos he's got a bell on his end :D Got a couple more from the range mixed in with a couple of Marauder Ogres for my Dwarf mercs.
In all their mostly unpainted ugliness :D Had to post this as some don't appear to be on Foundry's site any more.

I use Vallejo Model Colour. Spray undercoat black, basecoat VMC Medium olive mixed with VMC Black. Mid coat VMC Med Olive. Hilight VMC Med Olive mixed with VMC Lime Green, up to just Lime Green.
Pretty quick after the first dozen or so... ;D
-
To quote the phrase of the moment, they do pop. I'm doing my current boar boys a mix of greens but trying to go for the greater contrast between highlight and shade like you have here. I'm loving Harboths boys.
-
I love the dwarves. The foundry ogres are cool too. I really would like to get some some day for Strange Grogge (fantasy pirate nonsense!).
-
I think I have a bunch of those axe-shields somewhere
Marauder Ironbreakers led by da Baron! I need a few more of these shields if anyone has any ;D

I especcially like the (very classic) Dark Elves in a `true` Drow colourscheme (blueish skin etc). Now paint those orcs brown >:D
Nice job, I wish I could still gather the motivation to paint whole armies the same uniform colours.
-

:o Yes please Argo! I need eight, let me know what you'd like for them.

I've started doing my Dark Elves grey now ::) They look similar once they've been highlighted up though. A lot of the Dark Elves pictured just got a quick hilight. They were supposed to look very pale with blue shadows in the skin...
Some of my goblins will be brown, yellow, green and mebbe even blue :) Inbreeding little gits.
-

I'll see what I can dig out - I only have a faint idea where they might be. I'll ransack the basement friday or saturday - so if you haven't heard from me sunday, poke me with a PM (I tend to be absent minded).
-
Cheers for the shields Argonor, still gotta paint em :D
Just done a quickie pj on Marauder Ironbreakers
(http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o251/smbchead/DSC00532.jpg)
Banner is a quickie too, I'm intending to do a purtier one later. Awaiting a musician to finish the unit, Hammerers next, then I'll finish some boar riders.
-
White Knight may have a shield or two spare - I sold him about 300 a couple of months ago.
-
Nice LONG BEARDS on them there ironbreakers Hetz! ;) Good job, like the colour scheme and shields!
-
Ooops, I meant Longbeards of course, just testing you :P
I have enough shields now Svenn, Argonor sorted me with some.
-
Well, as Svenn said, if you're a few short, I may be able to help out. :)

Yup, both I and Duregar had some, so we pooled in :) Amazing how many of those ancient plastic shields has been laying dormant in various bits-boxes lol
Looking forward to see them painted ;)
-
You da shield pimp, Argonor. =)

Then maybe go see my thread in the bazaar about obscure plastic shields I'm looking for. ;)

?
Don't remember having any of these, sorry...
-
Ah well, it was worth a shot. ;)

I have some of those old metal Ork Arrer boys and a dozen of those old metal boars. I too painted the boars or mostly painted them, the reason I never finished the unit, besides us being more into 40K, was I have a total missmash of riders. I had no standard or musician, but had a champ and the smaller than the champ warlord. I have about a third each of swords, spears, and bows. The ork riders some or so small modern day goblins are bigger than them.
I'm not sure what I'll do with the boar boys, they used to be central to my army, but I've basically switched to all infantry... I got bigger priorities than getting all my old fantasy miniatures painted, like getting all my old 40K miniatures painted. ;-) I got a lot of new miniatures to paint and even some un-bought miniatures I want to paint.
I got a few pictures of old goblins and even less pictures of old orks in this gallery (http://www.muschamp.ca/Muskie/MiniatureGallery/MiniatureGallery.html).
-
Nice looking unit there Hetz and good to see you back again!
I rather like the champion/leader in the front rank! 8)
-
(http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o251/smbchead/DSC00544a.jpg)
Hammerers. (Yes, they won't all have hammers)
-
Good stuff. You going to add shields or leave them without?
-
Lovely stuff Hetz :-*
-
Cheers :) Yea they will have shields eventually, prolly do those in batches of 5 or 10 (hate painting shields...)
-
Like the wood on their weapons! Please post more, more, more =)

OK lol
Here's the musician for the Longbeards. Not finished yet, but maybe as finished as he'll get :D

Me too even though I've hardly painted any... I got 63 goblin shields to do someday... But not this week, I'm bringing my unit of 50 bowmen to the table, see if they plus some fanatics and Shaman can help my cause... (http://musksminiatures.wordpress.com/2010/07/25/firstgame/)
-
I think it's great to see the older orcs.....! Love the original FB stuff.
-
Me it's not so much the shields I hate, but the banners. Especially if you have to make them yourself and then fiddle with attaching them in an acceptable fashion.
-
Banners are a right pain - nice job on yours Hetz and I love the musician - where's he from?
-
I don't mind shields, but yeah, banners are a pain.
Loving the dwarfs so far, you've given me a few ideas. I'm surprised how some of the modern sculpts sort of fit in with the modern ones. They just look a bit over detailed.
I'm considering buying some of the new plastics and converting them like crazy.
-
In my opnion the current plastics are barely detailed, rotund, gorilla-armed shit.
If you want to convert them into something to fit with the classic figures, use the 6th edition plastics, like I did.
-
blimey, i didn't know you could paint....?
:o ;) :D

Mm yeah.
I have a few of the 6th ed ones. They seem a bit weedy to me, but bulking them out should be no difficult task.
-
Beautiful, just beautiful
dodge
-
Pay attention Matt lol

Fixed :D OK, that's my opinion on all the Dwarf plastics.
Thants, the Dwarf musician is a later edition dwarf - as is the leader - 5th or 6th maybe?
I like doing banners, the one on this unit is a temporary one. How fast can you get through a tube of tomato puree? I'm finding out...
Anyways here's a complete unit pic.
-
Thats a good idea - paper's a bit fiddly at times and doesn't bend where you want it...
Spag Bol for tea tonight!! :D
-
I use aluminium food containers for flags and banners (the empire handgunner banner in my thread is made from this stuff). The good thing is I can buy a pack of these unused and don't have to eat stuff for them.
You can cut it with scissiors, curl it around the standardshaft and bend it into the position you want and it will keep that shape unless you exert pressure on it and bend it out of shape.

That unit is very attractive. Love the colours and the shields look ace!
-
Nice unit, Hetz! lol Really like them. How fragile are those flails, btw? =)
-

:o Don't make me all para! Nah, they've been rolling around a box for years so they should be ok - I hope!
Cheers :D
-
Love it all. More!
-
Couple more hammerers, 1 shield done as tester.
-
Nice work on the shield but what happened to your greenskins? :D
-
Very nice colour-scheme on those last dwarves. (Obviously, I HAVE to like red-and-white, but I like the way the colours are muted down instead of being 'flashy'.)
-
Cheers :D I really like that shade of red, have to restrain myself from overuse of it. The red 'n' white was in answer to a mate's complaint about my blue 'n' white unit, it offended his Sheffield United sensibilities :D Glad it gets Danish approval too. lol
Thants, Snortas are next on the list after the Hammerers. I've had the Dwarves for years so they get priority, the Orcs were just gonna be a couple of units...
-
Really like the skin and beards - and once more, the great wood grain on the weapon shafts. Not scale model realistic, but very nice and effective of giving the impression of wood. Damn nice!
-
Look forward to seeing them - suppose the stunted ones are quite nice too though... ;)
-
They took a while getting here, but here's a few more Orcy reinforcements
(http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o251/smbchead/DSC00665.jpg)
15 more piggies hopefully arriving soon.
-
Cracking work as ever mate - must get round to finishing mine off sometime...
-
I love the Archers. I have a squad of them sitting on my desk. I totally remember this post from last year. Do you have any close ups of your Dark elves? I've just started a small force of them and I would love some inspiration.
-
Nice Harboth's, nice piglets. Really like you orc skin, muted and nice - or is that just shit photography? ;D
-
Good Snortas, love the pallet you've gone with, just a bit of infantry now and you'll have a good little contingent.
-
I love those Orcs! I have some of my own to paint soon... how did you get that particular green? :-*
