Title: Where to find some masked minis.
Post by: Big Sexy on 30 March 2010, 07:19:58 PM
So far I'm finding a lot of detective and adventure type miniatures for pulp but there seems to be a shortage of masked heroes on the market.  Anyone know where I can find some masked/costumed hero/vigilante miniatures.  I'm not really looking for the muscle bound super hero.   More like normal guys in cool duds like the shadow and green hornet.  I could convert some in a pinch but I'm hoping to unearth some mini range I haven't found yet.   I'm liking Lobster Johnson from this thread and would like to find more guys like him.

Sounds like you need Pulp Figures - and specifically the "Agents of Justice" pack:

Would heroclix be an option?

Warrior miniatures has lots of 'grunts' wearing masks in their over the wire, england invaded range.  ;)

Thanks for the leads.  I've seen the Pulp ones before and they're not bad but not much to choose from.  That Walking ghost is pretty cool and thanks for showing me where Lobster is from.  I've tried looking at Heroclix on ebay but there are soooooo many it hard to know what to look for.  I've been thinking a sky pirate from Artizan would make a cool masked man.  Maybe with a head swap or something to set it apart.

Another thought is swapping heads around.
Gripping Beast's Woodbine Design do an interesting British WW1 head with a gas mask which could create some strangely masked characters.
See http://www.grippingbeast.com/product.php?ItemID=2182 (http://www.grippingbeast.com/product.php?ItemID=2182)

(I think that I will have a little tinker with them once I've painted the remainder of my lead hillock).

There are lots of online retailers that sell heroclix and horrorclix singles at reasonable prices. Shipping tends to be better too. Do a google search for heroclix singles.

Here's one: Strike Zone Online (http://shop.strikezoneonline.com/Category/Hero_Clix_Singles.html?gclid=CIXwuYPO46ACFQQTawodklL-BQ)

Don't rattrap make a couple as well? Could be worth going through the Superfigs catalogue too.

What about making masks out of epoxy?
