Title: tips for a business [Aka: help for a poor sculptor]
Post by: Sangennaru on April 02, 2010, 01:42:07 PM
Hi!

I have a problem: I'm a yong building sculptor, and a shop asked me to start a new line of historical-fantasy buildings for 28 mms.

I'm pretty experienced on preparing masters and making buildings, but i never started this kind of business with a company.

the point is: how much should i have to ask for my stuff? They were thinking about 2 floor buildings for fantasy or for berlin WWII.

i hope in your huge knowledge about everything related with models, so if someone has any idea, can you give me some scale prices (for small stuff or bigger one) :)

thanks! :)
Jack

You might want to sign up for the 1listsculpting Yahoo Group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/1listSculpting/?yguid=337266269

Many professional sculptors frequent that site, and they can probably give you an accurate appraisal of what the going rate is for professional terrain sculpting.

I'm 19, and I do sculpting for Alternative Armies.

I don't expect money at first, I expect to show them I care and that I am well organised and keep to schedules. When I feel ready, I might mention the idea of working based on a contract.

As for how much, I don't know. It depends on the quality of work, how long it took and how well it will sell.
I couldn't speak for the quality, but if it's quite generic, then it should be quite popular.

the quality is pretty good: a bit over the average. but i was asking a very generic question, for the scale of prizes, nothing too specific! :)
