Nice weather outside and a nice mini:

I'm really happy with this one. The picture would have looked better if I had shot it inside with a backdrop and proper lights, but just couldn't resist going outside...
-
Very nice!
-
Very nice indeed... I got a (unpainted) figure that look like this one somewhere in the lead mountain
-
I very like your painting job, great blue skin, a sort of dark sea one? and like the mini as well. Who makes it?
-
Dark Sword miniatures, not the cheapest minis but some are worth the price.
The skin is Citadel Orkhide Shade foundation + white for highlights. Bluish green really, if it shows as blue I really need to calibrate my monitor, I actually tried to fix the colour to reflect mini in photoshop :)
-
Congrats Marko, a great mini well painted. It looks great on picture AND in real life...
The base also got my attention. The medusa I painted during our little "medusa painting camp" is still not based, and I like the base you did here. Should work on that.
Luikki.
-
Well, April really hasn't quite finished, yet, has it..? ::)
-
Wow, the skin is great on that.
Nice mini, I'm tempted by it.
-
Very nice mini and very nicely painted.
-
Most of mine have been painted for the LAF and shown there or are waiting to be.

What a beautiful figure.

lol There's always one smart alec! ;)
(but, just in case that wasn't a joke, I think he meant LPL (Lead Painters League))
-
Amongst other things, April was the month of the Duck (or should I say Durulz).

The bix set from Mongoose Publishing contained about ten of these Donald lookalikes. Nice minis, no seamlines or flash to be mentionned. Very very small, but a joy to paint. The fighter is not based, but will get a water-effect/swamp base.
Pics are sub-par, apologizes for that.
Luikki.

I meant LPL.
I could arrange a graphical deluge tomorrow after the "not posted yet" caveat no longer applies.

Finally finished the eight Mongoose Broo. More a practise on how to paint checks than anything else really...

I see that I have the advantage, at least in numbers, in the inevitable faceoff against Louis' ducks :)
-
:D
Numbers won't save you against the wrath of the Durluz! Let's put those on the table next time you come around here. A little landscape, the Song of Blades and Heroes ruleset, and a few snacks. This is all I need to show you how we treat broos in those parts.
On topic, nice painting. The sculpts are a bit strange, definitely less good than the ducks (which, being ducks, are awesome). Do you still have the box somewhere, and does it say who does these?
-
No idea of who sculpted them.
Looks like I'm on a roll, this time trying to figure out oxidisation with the theme "Grey Knight meets acid rain".

Still figuring out how to take photos - am I moving in the right direction?
*edit: got a bit carried away, I just noticed that I forgot to paint the sword handle...
-
ah, Grey Knights, the one truly great marine chapter, that are/were absolutely hopeless on the table.

I have been working on two projects, adding to my Early World War I French and Germans and my on going USMC project (making a squad/platoon representing every major conflict involving the USMC) So here are German Jagers, French HMG and Banana War Marines. Check here for additional photos: http://worldhistoryprof.blogspot.com/

I have to say when I saw those banana wars marines I thought - Cool, boy scouts with rifles, then had to read the text and found out they weren't :(
-
The Otherworld giant. Painted for the Frothers game at Salute - don't have a finished pic yet as I dropped my camera after the pre-Salute drinking session on Friday >:( I was still matt varnishing the figure 30 mins before leaving for London as I only had a week or so to paint it!

Can't see me finishing else now before the end of the month, so here you go with April's completed figures. A week's holiday of rain helped with the painting output...

You always paint so much. Great work! I'm continupusly jealous! Not sure what I painted this month. Not as much as last, but then I have had uni during the day and work in the evening most nights. :(
-
You wouldn't happen to be on a bit of a Dr Who kick this month, would you, Nick?
Nice stuff, as always.
-
Sometimes the painting bug really kicks in and you just have to go with it :D
-
Couple of bits from me, hoping to get a bit more done in may.

It's always nice to see WWI figures

Mostly on the modern adventure/horror theme this month.

Those two ghouls to the right of the killer rabbit use the free Mantic ghoul sprue bodies, with two of the heads. The gauntlet on the mad nun above also came from that sprue. But there were plenty of bits left, so I dug out some old Wargames Illustrated plastic freebies to see what I could do with them.
You can't see it from that photo, but the ECW ghoul has a bag of body parts on his back. And I've still got two pairs of ghoul legs left!
Finally, a couple of random figures painted for fun.

Nice selection and if you don't mind me asking who makes the armed nun in the first picture?
Thanks

Thanks, Pete. She's one of the Foundry mail-order freebies from a few years ago.
-
Thanks for the info and I did wonder if she was Foundry, but unfortunately she does not seem to be amongst the "Specials" that are now more readily available, for a price.
The last two episodes of Doctor Who had got me thinking about a sci-fi militant order of some sort, more sensibly attired than GW's offerings, and she, and a few more like her, would have been perfect...

I like that wabbit!!
In April I managed
7 Mutineer British for the Indian Mutiny
25 Chinese Boxers from Redoubt
5 Imperial Chinese from Foundry/Redoubt
still clinging onto my one a day so far.

The "I am your soldier" Darlek searving tea is way too much fun! Great job.
-
Just thinking, why would it have all those packs on it and a water container?
-
Just thinking, why would it have all those packs on it and a water container?
You'd have to ask the BBC producers. My guess is that the answer is "because it looks good". I'm not sure what the silver, cocktail-shaker shaped thing is, but that was there on the TV too. Lovely bit of modelling and painting there by Aircav.
-
We think of the Daleks as sentient (and evil); in the show they were clever vehicles. They were presumably carrying kit for their 'handlers'.
This is a total post-facto rationalisation. But I agree that it doesn't make much sense for Daleks that behave like Daleks to have them. Then again, Daleks that behave like Daleks have no use for tea-trays either. They have much more efficient ways of killing people.
Love the Dalek, by the way Aircav. Lovely conversion and great painting as always.
-
Surely it's to hold all the components to make the tea with? :D
-
All of these, apparently:

For the dry martini of course, shaken not stirred. Who says Darleks don't have style-evil yes-but style all the same.

I painted only 6 miniatures.

Project this time: figuring out eyes...
-
Eyes look fine to me. Get a copic multi liner 0.05 black pen for placing the dots, you won't regret it. I've painted eyes the hard way for years but now I never want to go back to try and paint the pupils. I always used to have to go back with white on at least a couple that I screwed up but now that almost never happens.
-
I got very little painted so far. One unreleased Todoroni Noble for Flintloque.
However, I have finished sculpting 12 Flintloque models this week, which will be sent to the mouldmakers at the end of the month with any luck. :)

How about some pictures.
What do you think of the Redoubt boxers? I have been thinking about getting some but wasn't too impressed with the pictures on the web site.

That's the exact pen I use. So much easier.

You will have to excuse the tabletop quality paint jobs (they are only going to be cannon fodder anyway) and the fact they seem to have migrated to India

vary a little and come in random packs which is a downer. There are a few I would be happy to buy 6-10 of and others I would avoid alltogether. Serviceable? Need a fair bit of clean up (yes, more than I bothered)

-
Where are they from?
They look alright with the paintjobs you've given them. They look like irregular...
-
Thanks Svennn
As you say some look good.
Others have some strange poses.
Your painting looks great (well above average tabletop)
The flags are outstanding. Really like the natural, blowing in the wind, look you mange to get.
Rob
These are Redoubt miniatures
