Any of you tech-savvy members feel up to answering some Photoshop questions from a complete chowderhead...?

I use PSE 7, but what is it that you are trying to figure out?

Thanks for responding. I'd been having trouble with making parts of some layers transparent and then overlaying them, but I muddled around and figured it out. This website was helpful:

Now I'm a little confused about de-fringing as opposed to feathering and smoothing...
