Title: Some Malifaux steampunk conversions
Post by: HRE Joseph III on 09 April 2010, 12:28:08 PM
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6FFRRd4a340/S78CAfigvuI/AAAAAAAAAOI/G8RtnMThx2k/s1600/Painted+Steampunk+Conversions.JPG)

Here some things I have been working on for the last week. I'm not sure that I got the source lighting right. Any comments from the expert painters out there would be much apreciated.

More explanation on the blog.

Thanks for looking,

Seconded. They look superb! Firstly they're great looking minis (3rd one especially) but I think the painting is excellent. The 2nd one particularly is very striking. Well done!

Is the second from left's pistol a swap?  If so, where did you get the part?

They are all (converted) Warmachine Cygnar miniatures. Nr. 1,2 and 4 are the 'Black 13 Gun Mage Strike Team'. Number 3 is Lt. Caine. See the originals here:

What did you use for the pistol on #2?

I extended the pistol with a paper clip and green stuff. I cut away the existing barrel and ised gree stuff to extend the stock. I used the same method to extend the pistols of the one standing under the street lamp.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Very nice but I'm more interested in the spiders :) I belive the term is "YOINK"!

How did you make the top hat? It it just green stuff or did you use something to get the shape so regular?

The hat is pure green stuff. I first formed the body of the hat with green stuff. It was originally supposed to be a mad hatter type hat, but I didn't like the look so I trimed it down with a hobby knife. I then formed the brim. This I had to trim as well. Its not the most refined sculpting tecnique, but it gets the job done.

The bowler was done in the same way. Although I didnt have to trim the gree stuff.

The spiders contain about 50p worth of materials. The hardes part were the legs.  :)

It looks very good.

My Wild West Scientist force has a bit of a spider theme going on, so they'll fit right in.
