Interesting question!
I had the same some time ago, looking to make some small party for gobi desert exploration. So, I am interesting to hear about it.

I was particularly looking for a dismounted falcon bearer (female better), and a bow hunter, but ....  and concluded to the potential  use of some tibetans.

The best idea I've had so far is Curtsey Miniatures Infantry  Spearmen , which I hope come with seperate weapons and shield, then add a firearm.

You're right, but as the goal is to give them guns, why not guns with hands?

I have hundreds of Curteys Mongols but the TAG ones will fit much better height wise to Copplestone.
