Nice ones... I really like the academic. What exactly is he holding?
Has the size comparison question been asked yet about your range?
-
Wow, awesome! Consider it pre-ordered!
-
I do believe that's a legally distinct Photonic Spanner he's carrying there.
-
Oooo - I like those! :D ;D :D
-
Very nice. I there a back story to these characters somewhere?
Rob
-
It's... er... an acoustic apparatus. ;)
-
Cheers guys!! Excellent suggestions for gizmo names BTW.
Rem - They are 28mm - although Tweedy stand approx 29mm. If you are familiar with Hasslefree work, then you'll get an idea. I mix and match mine with other 28mm ranges without breaking a sweat.
And Tweedy is holding some weird science apparatus - possibly a psionic probe. All part of his academic investigation obviously into the unknown...
Rob - backstory (such as it is):
Tweedy Mattison - Few would suspect that the youngest professor at Holmes College led such a double life. Dressed in his finest teaching attire, this daring young gent fights the good fight against all manner of villains – wherever they might be hiding.
Inadvertant sidekick of Tweedy Mattison, WPC May Killan finds herself battling against all manner of unlikely enemies. Armed with only her hairpins, notebook and a disarming ability with judo ("My dad wanted me to learn").
Expect similar character archetypes in 7TV - wargames rules for Cult TV - out later this year. More details on the Crooked Dice website here:
http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/7tv.html
-
He is 29mm to eye level, so a touch taller than most of the males in the HF range (averaging 27.5 to 28mm). She's about right for a tall female though (the RL female is 5'11").
-
Love'em, you guys are off to a great start!

Look for "Doctor Who" on Wikipedia.....

-
Very cool. Although I'm not in the market for a Not Doctor Who at the minute I could probably find a use for the Not Kissogram. :D
-
Brill. another Salute purchase :-[

Lovely. I can hardly wait.
Next up, how about Tweedy's long-running enemies, the notorious Ironsides mobile computers? Because it looks like we're going to need some new models (picture from Radio Times website).

Nice figures, both of them
-
Look for "Doctor Who" on Wikipedia.....
I think you must be mistaken. This miniature is clearly nothing to do with that particular television programme and its associated trademarks.
-
The BBC have gone after people for publishing online knitting patterns of cuddly Doctor Who characters, so it might be wise to be careful what words one uses when discussing these minis.
-
Beautiful! Should work great with the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang range!
-
Oh, I seem to have ordered some...
now I wonder what I'll use them for...
-
The greens of the adventurerous duo are splendid. I ordered a set before I saw them and very happy I am too :D
The totally unrelated pic of the Dalek from the BBC programme Dr Who is horrid though >:(
How on earth did these two topics become entwined?
::)
-
Will these be availble at Salute?
-
So these are supposed to be some Not-DrWho figs?
-
I pre-ordered last week and I am pleased to see that the figures dont disappoint. In particular I think that WPC Killian bears a strong facial likeness to the RL woman, which is cool.
As someone already said, Crooked Dice are off to a great start: well done and good luck! Cant wait to see the next releases 8)
-
So these are supposed to be some Not-DrWho figs?
Any resemblance to the 11th Doctor and his assistant is purely coincidental.
Of course, I suppose you could paint them to resemble those two if you wished, though ;)
-
Thanks for the comments - we're delighted with them.
And Plynkes has that right.
DWMG is completely free and a fan produced game. Use of any image and names are property of Auntie and credited as such.
Crooked Dice plan to produce modern minis for use for our new 7TV game on sale later this year.
http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/7tv.html
Players can use our mini releases in DWMG too if they wish, but any likeness is purely in the mind of the viewer...
Flip -You can pre-order from the Hasslefree stand at Salute. Hopefully, they will be available May/June subject to casters schedules.
-
We recognise the need for anonymity, but it is quite clearly Michael Caine in his role from Educating Rita, university lecturer (slightly updated with whiteboard marker).
I'm afraid the figure of Rita looks nothing like Julie Walters though.
-

Seconded - roll on June!
-
Whoever that unknown sculptor is, give him a cookie! :o
Color me impressed!

snort... I just spat my tea of my mac!!! Damn you :)
-
Just ordered them!
BTW will the rules for 7TV be available as a purchased download?
Here's hoping you keep Kev White working forever!
-
Ahh, excellent. :)
-
Yep - the 7TV rules will be available to purchase both as PDF download and in print form.
I'm afraid that Kev and Sally are tied up for the forseeable future :( but we are talking to another sculptor about release two. If you know of anyone who would be interested in sculpting for us, then please drop graeme or me a line.
-
Brilliant :D :-* :o
Kev has done his usual fantastic work on these. :D :D
-

-
Cracking minis - even happier now that I'd already pre-ordered them!
Need some baddies now! >:D

Like the one carried by a certain Professor, Froggy? ;)

Don't miss it! :D

Foresee a delivery month for the 7TV rules?
-
BYP - We're being cagey with late 2010 at the moment.
Launching the business and Salute have eaten all our time in the last few weeks, but it's our main focus after the show.
We've completed a first draft (a massive 104 page draft!) and we are now in the merciless editing process to get it into shape. There is a fantastic background, character archetypes and squads - it's just a shame we won't be able to get them all into the first release :(
We'll keep you posted though, and expect a few teaser releases over the coming months...

Thanks!
-
There (are) character archetypes and squads - it's just a shame we won't be able to get them all into the first release :(
Like, f'rinstance: time-displaced Victorian secret agent, time irregularity handlers with chemical compounds for names, all-female fighter pilot squadrons, flying saucer hunters in colourful uniforms, etc? ;)
Grif
-
You may think that, I couldn't possibly comment...;)
The squads and archetypes will hopefully be familiar enough to anyone who is a fan of the cult tv genre, but they will obviously be original creations.
Keep 'em peeled for more details of Department X, Adam Kismet or the evils of Doctor Ulysses Argo and his mechanical army of Argonauts in the months to come...
-
Looking forward to seeing your stuff...BTW, nothing to do with your games at all, gosh, no, but...Imagine a crossover, with the Doctor and Saphire and Steel trying to fix the same time-problem, and having a shouting match over jurisdiction!

I'll play that game with you should we ever meet.
-
Cool, Froggy! Wonder what it could be about...Different ideas about how to handle "time holes" between the Time Lords and "the forces controlling (this) dimension"?
Grif

Had a chat with Kev at Triples and he is re-doing the May's shoelaces, for all those people who were having apoplexy about them ::)
Great to meet him - very nice chap and I ended up buying £30.00 plus of figures including a resin Glasgow Police box from him lol
-
Tweedy and May are being shipped from Griffin today!
We will post them out as soon as we get them.
Thanks for patience, support - and of course your pre-orders!!
-
Great news - looking forward to slapping on some paint!
Can't wait for those robo-rodents as well! >:D
-
Excellent! :D
-
Hooray!
-
I see Kev's style. Me likey.
-
Cheers - you can buy direct from our online Store now too.
-
Today is a very good day! Not only has the World Cup started, we had some sun for the first time in what seems like weeks, but even better - I received my figures this morning ;D
They are every bit as good as I'd hoped and look like they will fit in perfectly with all the usual 28mm SciFi/Modern figures I use.
Well done Crooked Dice and here's to many more superb figures in this range :)
edit for drunken mis-spelling ::)
-
Ah bless ya!
-
Arrived yesterday - as good as expected and perfectly cast. Thanks.
-
Ditto. Lovely figs, looking forward to see the line develop.
-
Mine materialised this morning - happy days! :D
-
Recieved mine today, beautiful figures.
-
Mine arrived today.
Lovely sculpt, lovely cast.
I'm going to have fun painting these!
Thanks!
-
