Title: Mordheim Pirate
Post by: vikotnik on 05 June 2007, 08:22:44 PM
Ever had a closer look at the plastic miniature sprues included in the Mordheim boxed set?

I had them lying around for ages and while browsing the net for a suitable miniature to be used as a 'boatman' player character, I remembered them. I had loads of fun trying out all the different poses and combinations!

I am quite satisfied with the result... :)

Excellent paintjob. But I have a personal beef with the non-armoured GW plastic multiparts - the shoulder torso-arm-joints look so poor...

But he looks very piratey. Is that a catachan head?

Great mini. It looks too good to be plastic!

My whole (unpainted) pirate crew is GW Empire militia, which seems to be the same set as the Mordheim one. Augmented w/ Marauder, Catachan, and various other bits, they really fit the bill.

Now to paint them...  I'll never get it done! Too many projects, and too little teutonic efficiency...

This is an awesome painted miniature. Just great. The face looks so real. Especially the effects. His nose looks broken. The skin tone is simply great and his unshaved chin super !
Excellent !

The skin is great! But imho you overdid it with the dirt on his shoes ;)

Mine too!  Although, my Captain is the Sartosan Captain.  Who is AWESOME.

In fact, it is the same sprue... After Mordheim, the reused the sprues with boxes and voila! Empire militia.

Anyway, they're nice minis, and the one painted is one of the finest I know.

The Mordheim mercs/Empire militia remain my favorite multi-part plastic kit, ever.  Lots of character and incredible flexibility.  I love assembling and painting them.

I love that pose, and the painting is brilliant - especially the shading on the skin.  Outstanding!

He looks TERRIFIC...BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. VERY WELL DONE!
Whatever other faults they may have, G.W. did a fine job with their Empire Militia & quite a few other similar sets. I have, however, stopped thinking of the sets as complete models, & started viewing them as collections of component parts.
