That aeronef is amazing!!! Great job. Best entry this round. love it.
-
Cracking stuff Overlord. :-*
Aeronef is great.
Where is the bits of the balloon from?
I am amazed that you managed to get it all into one photograph.
-
Only thing I can say Overlord is 'He's fallen in da water!' - Goon away!
-
Overlord, considering you did that at the last minute, that is a wonderful entry - not only great models and good painting, but perfect composition.
Really nice :)
Killshot's VBCW are excellently painted, and I voted for them in a previous round, so I don't feel too bad about coming out for Overlord on this one! ;) :D

battle of britain: brilliant!

Excellent stuff overlord, I have the same Golden COmpass toy as you it seems!
Really like the aeronef. I must get around to building some!
I love the VBCW miniatures too, really nice and they are wonderfully unified. :) :)

The top half of the balloon is straight from the Scoresbys balloon, Golden Compass toy. (Poundshop acquisition). The lower half is entirely scratchbuilt:
The base is foam PVC with the sides made from resin trench revetments (Hovels I think) which I had to cut the thick bottom from. This proved a real problem as I damaged a couple and later smashed another when I clumsily dropped the whole thing after undercoating it. The corner posts are pieces of bamboo skewer. The ropes are florists wire. The engine is an old metal GW laser (or similar) turned 90 degrees (barrell down) with a prop made from a piece of plastic tube and 2 blades from the bits box (possibly from a Spitfire.... oh the irony). The rudder is an amalgamation of part of a Sikorsky rotor blade and PVC foam. The sandbags are Procreate with twisted copper wire rope.
The balloon is very top heavy and totally impractical to use on the tabletop. I will need to construct a new balloon for it from a polystyrene or plastic ball sometime. I broke the prop blade 3 times whilst building/photographing it!
As Cap'n Blood has commented, I had very little time with this towards the end. I was lucky that the photos turned out as well as they did.

You silly twisted boy. lol
-
Major Dennis Bloodnock! Possibly the first Goon I've seen in a VSF setting lol lol
Brilliant, Mr Overlord, just brilliant!
-
I'd never thought of it before, but the Goon show lends itself very well to all sorts of VSF madness.

Re VSF.
very lovely work. This must have took ages! the figures are perfect, and the vehicals are a wonder to behold! Amazing!
Re VBCW
Very lovely, but stiff compertition.
A tough call. :?

Overlord, your Aeronef is easily my favorite VSF vehicle of the round and that is no small feat considering the many inspired creations. Well done!
-
I don't begrudge anyone voting for the aeronef, it is well done! :-*

Great paintwork as usual Killshot, but that's a bit 'o' genius Overlord 8)
