ok heres my problem..
how can you get your flag poles to be so straight (please no puns lol)
just recieved my ensign poles and they are in a mangled state after the journey home any advise to help Straighten would be great
cheers mike :)

You are referring to cast pewter poles?
I personally prefer to use steel or brass wire if the need arises, and usually replace any cast items by those (especially if they are clunky and look too big).

Cast poles will always be likely to bend. Do as Chris says and replace them with wire. If they have eagle tops etc. saw them off and drill them out before adding them to the wire.
I find it a lot easier to add the flags onto the pole away from the figure too so thats another reason I switch to wire. I did five before work this morning in readiness for tonights painting.

I've managed to replace most of my cast flagpoles, spears, pikes etc using brass wire and a Dremel and have only had a couple of minor injuries in the process ;)
You can buy steel pikes, with nifty spearpoints at the top, from several manufacturers, which can easily be cut to the length you want. I believe the Perrys and Foundry both sell them.

Another option for flag poles is the wire from a hand whisk.

Great idea but I'd be gutted when it came to whisking up some Angel Delight. ;)

As was my wife when she picked it up to whisk an omelette - seems it's not as effective with one of the wires missing! lol

A length or two of brass wire has yielded many flag poles for my 25mm figures. Many manufacturers sell finials or other types of flag "toppers" (eagles for most of my units) that are easy to glue onto the pole. I find it much more convenient to add the flag prior to placing it into the flag bearers hands. In other words, I agree with everyone else who has responded...!

Brass wire is the way to go, no doubt.
I used it on the HMCT Prairie Dog (mini tank) on my Round 10 LPL entry

The brass rod is pretty darn resistant to bending or warping and can easily be attached after drilling a hole with either a pin vise or a dremel tool.
