Title: British cops with weapons - the unseen pics...
Post by: Lovejoy on April 29, 2010, 08:41:08 AM
Hi all - I've been working away on Grimjack's figures, and here's some updated pics. Not very good pics, sadly, as I'm a rubbish photographer, and the lighting makes them look a bit weird too...

First, the modified WPCs:

Then the rest:

Lot of character. I get a little kick out of seeing copperesses in those dainty little hats wielding a MP45.

Is it just me or do those guns look way too big?

Those G36's do look like something from GW don't they?

That said, I don't mind too much, I'll certainly be a customer.

Nice figures but the weaponry looks way too big.

The enormous bulk of the weapons most 28mm figures are toting is sort of a tradition dating back to Grenadier's 8-inch-wide broadswords in the late 1970s, but on ontherwise "normal" humans it's especially striking. Compared to the average human frame, from the top of the receiver to the trigger guard is almost 9". The clips are wider than an adult male hand - approximately 5".

I think most wargames figures' weapons are way too big. I understand the casting process probably has a lot to do with it - at the correct scale most rifle barrels, swords, javelins etc would be way too fragile. The H&Ks aren't too far out but the rifles certainly seem very chunky. That said, I do like the figures and would tend to agree with dewbakuk - it wouldn't put me off buying as I can see several uses for these figures  :D

More like a G40K than a G36  ;)

I'll get my coat.

Joking apart, they're really cool sculpts and the big guns don't detract from the quality. I like them a lot.

The weapons are from Kev (Hasslefree) so they shouldn't suffer from heroic overscale to be honest....

The weapons are a bit oversized - not massively so, though.
I think the pics are exaggerating it a fair bit; the silver metal seems to pick up all the light and stand out a lot in the photos. They don't look that oversized on the workbench - and once cast up and painted, I don't think it'll be noticeable to be honest.

I'd buy an over weight one.

You're probably right, and as I said, i don't mind. The MP's don't look too bad, I think a problem with the G36's is it's a gun with quite a few gaps in it, although not usually as much as shown in that pic from former user. Those gaps can't really be in the castable versions which makes it seem much more bulky.

I'll be really happy if they fit in with Hasslefree's "not Hot Fuzz" figures  :D

Really quality stuff. Agree about the gun size issue though.

Thanks for sharing.

I am waiting on the greens to arrive, off to see a distributor friend this week and buying some SAS greens next weekend.

So, hoping now for end of May / mid-June release?
